Newsletter Year 2016
Edition 20
Dear sponsor,

Wauw, time flies! We are one month late with our newsletter. So much has happened! To start with our:

Hen house
The first residents have entered the hen house. These are chickens for sale and chickens for selling their eggs. It’s very busy and cozy with all these chickens. It was scary, stressful and it cost some sleepless nights, but the routine is coming in all this. Uncle Peter takes care of the hen house with the help of Tony, Said Mohamed and Iddi. It is so good to see that these three boys immediately took their responsibility and began to help. This is exactly what we want. Teach the boys life skills which they can use in the future.

Staff
Kenya is not an easy country for finding reliable and motivated staff. But we have a new team. Emmy cleans and cooks for BeHoCa, Peter takes care of the chickens, vegetable garden and the compound. Than we have Benard and Patrick for guiding the boys. All of our boys come from an unstable home, so they need more time to trust new people. But this is going very well The boys are doing great and the ethos within the group and the home is finally homey and cozy again. There is a lot of laughing and joking. It feels like one big family. Unfortunately Evans has made some wrong choices. He also made the decision to leave BeHoCa. We hope he will do fine.

We were planning on taking in new boys. But Kenya is Kenya. This plan has got delayed. But the new boys are coming! The new beds are ready for them. We have build an extra room and the screening of possible new boys has begun. We hope to welcome 5 new boys soon.
KRO
Once a year KRO supports a few charities. Members of the KRO can admit their charity. Diny van Wanrooij has done this for BeHoCa. If we end up in the top 5 of the charities we can receive €15.000, €10.000 or €7.500. Winning one of these amounts would mean more stability for the foundation, because we will be getting closer to our own piece of land. It would we so amazing to have a more stable future for the foundation, but especially for the boys. Did you not vote yet? Saying goodbye and welcome
Auntie Ilse had to say goodbye. But what have we enjoyed her time in BeHoCa. Ilse, thank you so much for everything! You have meant so much to everyone here, ASANTE.
’And than it was time to go home already..... time has gone by so fast. The 5,5 months I stayed at BeHoCa were the best months of my life so far. I have developed personally and within the social work a lot. I felt at home, precious and happy. I want to thank everyone of BeHoCa, the boys, Melissa and my colleagues for this beautiful memory and life experience which they have given me. I am so proud of you all! I feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to experience this.’

For the next 6 weeks we welcome Auntie Romy. Romy, we wish you an amazing and instructive time within BeHoCa.
’My expectations of my time with BeHoCa is that I hope to learn and discover a lot together with the boys. I am hoping on a nice beginning of experiences for my future work.’

New sponsor
Hands in Hands for Mzingisischool SA has supported a school in South-Africa for several years. When you reach the goals that you were working towards and the project is finished, it is time for a new project. Let this new project be BeHoCa. The name of the foundation has now changed into ‘Hands in Hands for Melissa’. We want to thank all the members of the foundation for their trust in BeHoCa. Their support will be for the next three years! So wonderful and very very welcome! Asante Sana (thank you).
The children
As said before, the kids are doing perfect. They are doing very well at school and they are working hard and are learning a lot for their exams. They are already getting a bit nervous. After the exams they have a holiday for two weeks. Auntie Romy has made an awesome holiday program, so we are ready for the holiday!
Our vegetables are growing hard. Uncle Benard has put a lot of effort in the garden. And again, so wonderful to see how the boys are helping and working hard in the garden. They learn a lot from Uncle and they have harvest some things already. They were so proud! Fun fun and tasty as well.
Said and Mombasa bought a radio of their savings. Music can be heard through the whole house. The boys are dancing, rapping and singing! They also discovered the BBC earth dvd’s. They watch this a lot and can talk along with almost everything. How awesome it is that the animals they are showing on the dvd are right there in their own country! We hope that the boys, just like all the tourists, can admire the animals and nature in real life some day. They are dreaming of it already!
