Channel 7's SA LIfe visits South West.
Callum Hann from Channel 7's SA Life program visited the South West of the City recently and his expose of the area's excellent Cafes and Eateries was aired on the program a few weeks back. If you missed the story, you can view the video here. It features local favourites such as Cafe Troppo, My Kingdom for a Horse, Cantina Sociale and Vietnamese Laundry as well as new arrivals such as Han's Patisserie, East of Norman and 5 o'clock Somewhere. Well worth a look and thanks to Channel 7 for recognising our Patch!

Heritage Planning Reforms
In April, the passage of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 through Parliament enabled a new planning system to be established by The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) over the next 3-5 years.
Priorities for the next 12 months are the establishment of the State Planning Commission, creation of the Community Engagement Charter, initial steps on ePlanning and beginning to prepare the Planning and Design Code. The PDI Act 2016 adopts a ‘status quo’ approach to heritage, with heritage matters being flagged for a second round of legislative reform.
To commence this second round, DPTI recently released a local heritage discussion paper (download here) Comments are invited by 9 September, with DPTI advising Council that its comments could be forwarded after the Council meeting of 13 September. If you have any questions, please contact Rick Hutchins via email here.
