Black Canaries Wins Grand Jury Prizes for "Best Film" & "Best Cinematography" at the 12th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival
Jesse Kreitzer's MFA thesis film Black Canaries was awarded the Grand Jury Awards for "Best Short Film" and "Best Cinematography" at the 12th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival this past week at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, California.

The award was presented by Kodak Motion Pictures President Steve Bellamy, who hailed Black Canaries "a masterpiece" and acknowledged that of the 3,000 entries submitted to the festival, it was the only film captured on 35mm.  HollyShorts Jury Member JT Mollner, Director of OUTLAWS & ANGELS (Sundance, 2016), congratulated Kreitzer saying, "It's rare a film excites me as much as yours."

Kreitzer will receive over $25K in prizes, including $20K in services from the high-end post-production facility Company 3 and $5K in Kodak film stock.

This is the third and fourth festival awards for Black Canaries which received the Jury Award for "Best New England Short Film" at the 18th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival and the Director's Award for "Best Cinematography" at the 22nd Annual Woods Hole Film Festival this summer.
