August 21 games

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, a walk, and an RBI in a 4-0 win over Cincinnati. Los Angeles leads the N.L. West by 0.5 games.

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun went 1-for-4 with a two-run, ground-rule double in a 7-6 win over Seattle. Braun's 6th-inning double started the Brewers' comeback from a 6-1 deficit.

Houston 3B Alex Bregman went 1-for-4 with a walk in a 5-3 win over Baltimore. That ended a five-game hitting streak in which the 22-year-old rookie went 11-for-24 (.458) with 3 HRs, 2 doubles, a walk, and 9 RBIs. The Astros are 3.5 games behind Baltimore for the A.L.'s second wild-card slot.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went 0-for-4 with a walk and was caught stealing in a 10-5 win over Boston. The Tigers are 2.5 games behind Baltimore for the A.L.'s second wild-card slot 

Danny Valencia was not in the starting lineup in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Seattle. He grounded out in a 9th-inning pinch-hit appearance.

Toronto reliever Scott Feldman did not play in the team's 3-2 loss to Cleveland. The Blue Jays lead the A.L. East by 0.5 games.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar is on the 15-day disabled list. In the second game of a minor-league rehab assignment, he went 2-for-2 and reached base twice more after being hit by pitches.

August 20 games

Astros 3B Alex Bregman went 3-for-6 with a 2-run HR and an RBI double. It was his second straight 3-hit game. 

Oakland RF Danny Valencia went 2-for-4 with a solo HR in a 6-2 loss to the White Sox. The 412-foot shot, his 15th of the season, left him three HRs shy of the career-high 18 he hit in 2015. A day earlier, Valencia reportedly injured teammate Billy Butler in a clubhouse brawl.
