We are pleased to announce that David Anderson has joined the company, in the role of Project Manager, and he’s jumped right into start a new construction project in Carnation. David shares that he most enjoys three parts of his construction career: client and team relationships; the incredible construction technologies like CAD and BIM, because the benefits to scheduling and budgets are tremendous; and the rewards of knowing that people are using what he’s helped to create—everyday. David sums it up “It is satisfying to see projects that I’ve worked on almost everywhere around the area.†Architecture and land use planning have always been, and continue to be, other key professional interests.
David has lived in the area nearly his whole life and he loves to build things! It makes sense that he chose a career in construction, when you learn that his favorite toys in childhood, were Lego® building blocks. Miniature building block play evolved into actual neighborhood treehouse construction, which led to his first teen job as a laborer with a neighborhood contractor.
Beyond his work life, David shares that he enjoys the hobbies of boating, sailing in particular, and snow skiing. Through the years, he has instructed new skiers. When he was younger, he crewed on some of the big sailboats and raced them around the Puget Sound on the weekends. Not surprisingly, David’s adventures also include a love of airplanes, as he grew up around them, and may plan to become a licensed pilot in the future. He is a Pacific Northwest adventurer by sea, land and air!
Travel is also an important to David. Last winter he visited family in the heart of the Mayan region—Merida, Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, 200 miles west of Cancun, Mexico. The rich Spanish & Mayan cultures and history captured his interest—right down to the buildings and amazing architecture. He trekked through Mayan ruins and Spanish structures which were built out of old temples. We can tell that David’s appreciation for land use and planning carries into his free time! David’s next trip is planned for a return to Hawaii.
David grew up in Seattle, his wife Mary was born and raised here too. They met in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, he says “a long time ago!†The Andersons have an adult son, who lives in the area and works selling cars along with going to school. Their daughter is a sophomore at Western Washington State in Bellingham. Though the kids are grown and out of the house, David and Mary aren’t empty nesters; Calvin their 13year-old lab/collie mix is adjusting to the recent addition of two cats to the household.
Being results driven, and also goal and team oriented, David makes a great addition to the company. Welcome to RCH David!
