Congratulations to 4Cs Santa Clara for launching their Play and Learn Group on July 29th!

Caregivers and Children on the Move!

 
Kenya Ruiz from Options for Learning shared that a recent play and learn group focused on movement using the Kaleidoscope lesson, "Let's Get Moving."  Together, they read the story, Head to Toe by Eric Carle, while acting out the movements in English and Spanish. "We laid out carpets and mats with climbing structures that the children used throughout the play group". To support learning at home, many resources were provided from one of Option's health programs and the Kaleidoscope curriculum. It was wonderful that each family "went home with yoga cards and yoga mats!"

Resource Corner
 
Children's books are a wonderful way to actively engage children and caregivers during group time. Young children particularly enjoy books that allow them to participate, interact, and move. Options for Learning shared their recent use of Head to Toe by Eric Carle and how successful it was with their families. In celebration of their story this month and the importance of supporting children's motor development, here are some additional book ideas. A few stories are available in both English and Spanish.
