Ankeny Plaza Ribbon Cutting

Ankeny Plaza was once the heart of Portland's entertainment and commerce and now the neighborhood is bringing it back into the spotlight. As Portland's newest public space neighbors are enthusiastic to fill it with family friendly activities for everyone, day and night. The bike and pedestrian improvements on Second and Third avenues help create easy access to the site, along with extra bike parking and a Biketown station.
Watch videos from the opening celebration here and here.

Portlanders interested in organizing a street fair, block party, community barbecue, marathon, parade or other event in Portland's streets can get additional information from PBOT.

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival

Thursday, September 15 - Sunday, September 18

This September, Lan Su Chinese Garden celebrates Zhong Qiu Jie (中秋节) or the Mid-Autumn Festival. With roots that go back thousands of years, the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional Chinese holiday. Taking place on the fifteenth day of the eight month of the lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally close to the harvest moon during the autumnal equinox.

A time for family, stories, poetry and games, the Mid-Autumn Festival at Lan Su will be filled with a number of great activities like lantern making, dance performances, and mooncakes. See the full Mid-Autumn Festival schedule of events online.

Evan Ross at Cycle Portland

Tell us about yourself and your business. What makes it unique?
My name is Evan, and I started Cycle Portland in 2008. We provide sightseeing tours by bike and also have bike rentals, repair, and accessories at our storefront in the Rich Block building on NW 2nd Ave. I studied at the Evergreen State College in Washington and originally trained for mountain guiding and outdoor education. While studying abroad I took bike tours in several different countries including Nicaragua, Spain, and even Slovenia and found it an ideal way to explore a new city while learning more about the local culture. I decided to move to Portland after I had visited while re-supplying on the Pacific Crest Trail and found that no one was offering bike tours, so after I finished the trail I came back and started Portland's original Bike Tour and Rental company!

Making Old Town new again!

Old Town Needs Your Help to Match A Communication Grant!

Thanks to the funds from last year’s grant from the Portland Development Commission (PDC) and matching donations from Old Town neighbors and businesses, Old Town now has new branding including an amazing website: pdxoldtown.org

This new branding that represents Old Town and the distinct neighborhoods within it will be seen soon on Big Belly garbage cans and lampposts throughout the district.
A second round of PDC funding is available only IF we can match the $30,000! Will you help?

Your donation will help pay for a District Manager to work on the following:

  1. Communications
  2. Fundraising
  3. Build relationships and garner support/resources
  4. Activate and promote the neighborhood
  5. Attract businesses and tourism

Your contribution is tax deductible and neighborhood supportable!
