Publishing workshop: Creating a winning book cover

Synopsis

Founder of book cover studios in Spain and Thailand, Xavier Comas will help participants to demystify the book cover design process, engage with visual analysis of covers and abstract concepts and develop skills of creative team work. This workshop is suitable for graphic designers, editors, publishers and writers.  

 


Storytelling workshop: Fingers, Chants, Music and Action: Encouraging audience participation during storytelling

Synopsis

Experienced storytellers and workshop trainers Wong Swee Yean and Karen Lee will teach techniques such as finger-play,  oral refrains, action, music and rhythm which will encourage children to participate actively during a storytelling session.This workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone interested in storytelling especially  teachers and care-givers who work and play with children.
 

Reading workshop: Pre-reading and Post-reading Activities

Synopsis

Reading is a thinking activity. We read better when our brains are switched on. Activities before reading and activities after reading switch on our brains and keep them switched on. Both types of activities offer fertile ground for dialogue between students and between students and teachers. Dr George Jacob will explain these activities and provides participants with opportunities to experience these activities and to plan their own. These reading activities can be conducted for upper primary and lower secondary level.
 


Writing workshop: Nurturing Nature - writing nature’s stories for a better earth

Synopsis

Discover through author Anupa Roy, what writing about Nature is about â€“ as seen in books on ecology and the environment, popular science writings, personal journeys in Nature to children’s picture books. In our everyday lives we overlook the natural world and our place in it.  During this course, you will take a walk and spend some time in nature before  getting down to writing. So get closer to nature, refresh your mind and put the Nature spirit into your writings. Write about Nature – whether you are a professional or amateur writer.
