ARCHER is the dog of the day!

Stuck In Boarding! New Rescue!
Cocker Spaniel/Poodle Mix, 4 years old, 18 lbs. Archer went into the shelter as a stray. He was extremely scared upon intake, but has really opened up and will now approach people and give kisses. High energy, very vocal and loves attention. Extreme kisser!!! Can be very pushy with people for attention. May not be best apartment dog due to his barking, he alarm barks at certain strangers approaching. Most likely needs experienced owner.

Don't forget to sign up for Strut Your Mutt

Each year, we join Best Friends Animal Society for our biggest fundraiser of the year. The Strut Your Mutt walk takes place on October 22nd and our goal is to raise $40,000 in order to allow us to stay at our current Encino headquarters which has been a great place to house our newest rescues and rehabilitate some of our long-term residents. If you believe in the great work we do and wish to join our team, please click here to register to walk (you don't even have to physically walk but we hope that you do). Ask your friends to sponsor you or join our team. It's a great event that's not too strenuous yet wonderfully rewarding while spending an afternoon with dogs, music, food trucks, and other rescue groups for a great cause. WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU! PLEASE JOIN OUR TEAM!!!
NICO is being rescued today!
Maltese/Poodle Mix, 5 years old, 10 lbs. Nico went into the shelter as a stray. He is very sweet and friendly, and loves being held.
SHASTA is being rescued today!
Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua Mix, 7 months old, 10 lbs. Shasta was an owner surrender to the shelter due to landlord issues. She was kept indoors only, is housebroken, and reported to be friendly with strangers and good with kids.
SMORES is stuck in boarding! New rescue!
Spaniel Mix, 1 year old, 12 lb. Smores went into the shelter as a stray. He is reported as being really sweet and loves attention. Very high energy, friendly and outgoing. Good with other dogs, a little crazy on leash so needs some help with that.
CHRISTY is stuck in boarding! New rescue!
Cocker Spaniel/Shih Tzu Mix, 8 years old, 12 lbs. Christy was an owner surrender to the shelter due to landlord issues. She was surrendered with Cinnamon (below) who we think is her daughter. They are very bonded. Christy is reported as being housebroken, friendly with people, very sweet and loving, and she craves belly rubs.
CINNAMON is stuck in boarding! New rescue!
Havanese/Poodle Mix, 6 years old, 18 lbs. Cinnamon was an owner surrender to the shelter due to landlord issues. She was surrendered with Christy (above) who we think is her mother. Cinnamon is friendly with people and housebroken. She is very attached to Christy and can whine when she's nervous. She seems to be non-shedding.
SIMBA is stuck in boarding!
Terrier mix, 10 lbs, 1 year old. Simba is so happy to be rescued! He went into the shelter as a stray. He is very sweet, friendly and is good with other dogs. He was really nervous when he was rescued from the shelter, but was nothing but love after a few short minutes.
PRINCE is stuck in boarding!
Pomeranian, 3 years old, 13 lbs. Prince is a spunky, outgoing boy that wants to be the center of attention. He is a very funny guy, extremely high energy, loves other dogs, and walks well on leash. This guy is stuck in boarding when he should be prancing about Hollywood next to YOU! Foster Prince!!
KNUCKLES is stuck in boarding!
Terrier / Wire Haired Dachshund mix, 10 lbs, 3 years old. Knuckles is really sweet and just wants to be held. He is not at all aggressive, just a little jumpy. Once you spend time with him and hold him he calms down quickly and is a total sweet heart. He's not crazy about other dogs and may growl at some people when scared. He initially had separation anxiety and would bark and howl when left alone but he is getting better with that. Basically, he's a lap dog who wants to cuddle. He is mostly housetrained.
MOLLY is stuck in boarding!
Terrier/Dachshund Mix, 8 months old, 17 lbs. Molly was surrendered to the shelter because her family had no time for her. She is friendly, and good with other dogs. She is super sweet and shy at first although she warms up after a while. She is a little skittish but we expect her to settle down. She loves carrots! She does well with other dogs but does not seem to be too interested with them. She bonds well with her person and does tend to resource guard them a little, especially from other dogs who might be competing for affection. She may growl at them so we need to teach her to share people.
BRANDY is stuck in boarding!
Terrier mix, 25 lbs, 3.5 years old. Brandy was adopted by someone from the shelter 2 years ago, but she was not well cared for and was dumped recently with terrible hairloss and severe allergies. She has improved greatly and is ready for a foster home. This little girl has lots of energy and loves to play. She is a real character and can be grumpy if you ask her to do something she doesn’t want to do and she can get a little nippy. For that reason, we do not recommend her for a home with young kids.
TOBY is stuck in boarding!
Wheaten terrier mix, 4 years old, 38 lbs. Toby has a happy, easy going personality. He is curious, smart as a whip, and is a high-energy guy who needs a lot of daily exercise and a patient, experienced hand. We recommend a secure home and a secure outdoor area, as he can be a little bit of an escape artist if he's left alone in a yard all day. He is crate trained and housetrained and knows basic commands. Toby would be happier as an only dog in a home with no cats and no kids under the age of 13.
IMAN is stuck in boarding!
Ibizan Hound / Retriever mix, 10 months old, 35 lbs. Iman came to us all the way from Myanmar. She gets along well with other dogs and is very friendly and outgoing with everyone, including kids and cats. She is used to living in a pack of other dogs and puppies and can be dominant but not overly so. She is housetrained. Right now, Iman will bark or cry when left alone. We can support and help in resolving this issue. She needs someone who is committed to helping her settle down and lose her separation anxiety. She is a smart, engaging girl and we know she will learn fast.

GRAYSON is stuck in boarding!
Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua Mix, 16 lbs, 3.5 years old. Grayson is very friendly and outgoing. He is sweet and low energy and not much of a barker. He does well in his crate. He can be fearful of men and may get spooked if they try to pet him too fast. He does well with other dogs. He needs some assistance and patience with housetraining.
SUZY Q needs a TEMP Foster 8/25-8/28!
Chihuahua, 4 yrs, 7 lbs. This little girl is shy at first but very sweet. She is quite vocal and loves to "talk" to you. She has high energy and needs an active household. She may have some separation anxiety.
ESTRELLA needs a TEMP Foster 8/25-8/27!
Havanese/Poodle Mix, 4.5 years old, 18 lbs. Estrella was an owner surrender to the shelter because her family had no time for her. She is a calm, friendly girl who needs a temp foster for just a few days!
CANDY needs a TEMP Foster 8/25-9/2!
West Highland Terrier / Poodle Mix, 18 months old, 15 lbs. Candy is generally a shy but very sweet girl who would do well in most homes, but she needs to be the only dog in the home. Apart from her feelings about other dogs she is a really sweet girl. She loves to sit on the couch and be near her person and walks very well on leash. She does have some separation anxiety and will cry for a short time when left alone. She is a beautiful little dog who will make a wonderful companion.
MINI needs a TEMP Foster 9/1-9/10!
Chihuahua, 5 yrs old, 7 lbs. Mini is a sweet, gentle girl with a lot of love to give. She has non-contagious demodex mange, but she is on medication and is improving every day. Mini is very attentive, well-behaved, and so eager to please! She is house trained if taken out 3-4 times a day and she's crate trained. She may whine a bit when first left alone, but she settles down quickly. Mini is good with other dogs around her size, but is not very interested in playing yet. She is a quiet girl and only gives a small bark or two when someone comes to the door. She's a very easy going, low maintenance girl!
HONEY needs a Foster!
Golden Retriever / White German Shepherd mix, 48 lbs, 11 months old.  This beautiful girl came to us from Iran on July 2. Honey has a beautiful, gentle, mellow personality. She gets along with other dogs provided you start out following our dog-integration rules. Once the rules are established Honey can love the company of other dogs and be quite playful! She is also suffering separation anxiety at the moment which is unusual for her. She may be suffering PTSD from her travels. She can be shy when initially approached by strangers but she warms up quickly. Honey needs a patient, loving hand who can help her recapture her formerly sunny nature and get her confidence back.
MONA LISA & PUPS need a Foster by 9/1!
Spaniel mix, 4 years old, 13 lbs. Mona Lisa was taken into the shelter as a stray and gave birth to 3 pups the next day. She is a sweet girl, and doesn't have a care in the world about anything but being with her babies. This family needs a foster by 9/1. Can you take them in?
IMPORTANT FOSTER NOTE
When a dog is just saved from the shelter, or has been in boarding, we have no way of knowing certain things about them such as if they are potty-trained, good with other dogs, cats or children, or if they will experience separation anxiety or barking. While we will always do our best to let you know as much information as we have about a dog, we ask for your patience and understanding as we embark on a dog's journey to find a forever home together!
