A Note from Mrs. Yankovich

"You are a masterpiece of God, created with precision for a specific purpose." This is the archdiocesan foundation and we have adopted it as our theme for this year.  We wrote a morning prayer that thanks God for making us masterpieces and we even had a special song written and composed around the theme that you will be hearing at our all school masses.  By definition a masterpiece is a person's greatest piece of work.  I have enjoyed hearing the children talk about how God created them each in a unique way.  The eighth graders even wrote about why they are a masterpiece.  Here are a few of their statements:

-I am a masterpiece because I can cook Polish meals, fence and I plan both the guitar and piano.

- I am a masterpiece because I am a social butterfly.

- Basketball is my passion and I'm good at it, it's what makes me a masterpiece.

- I am a masterpiece because I am good at writing and ELA.

- I am a masterpiece because I am a loving person.

- I am a masterpiece because of my love for dance gymnastics.

I could keep going, but it is apparent that even though God made us all unique, here at John Paul II we celebrate our differences and work together to help each other.  This is what makes John Paul II unique and a great place to be.  I am so happy with the way the school year has started.  The classrooms and hallways are filled with learning and laughter.  I hope that everyone can find some time to relax and unwind this weekend.  If you ever have a question or concern, please don't hesitate to call me.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

The 8th Grade Class learned the proper way to handle the American flag, (along with a little history about how the final design of the flag came to be), thanks to Mr. Jim O'Connor and Mr. Max Dewees.

Did you know? There are a few options for displaying our country’s flag...you can fly it from a pole, tape it over a window, or attach it to a wall with tacks. You cannot drape it over the side of a car, train, or boat, or tie it to a tree. According to the official U.S. Flag Code, these are all signs of disrespect.
