New Planters Green Up NH Ave

New Planters

The CDA added twelve new planters along the 7600 block of NH Ave on September 7, at bus stops on both sides of the street, and along the sidewalks.  The new planters add green spots to this area and have CDA labels. The CDA purchased the planters and assembled them, and Takoma Park' Public Works Department installed them.

Hispanic Heritage Month - Prince George's County

Prince George's County kicks off a month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage on September 15 through musical performances around the county. Click here for a complete schedule.

9/29 P3 Forum

Learn how a Public Private Partnership built a light rail line on schedule within budget in Denver, Colorado, at Purple Line Now's September 29 forum.  Project director Brian Middleton managed the FasTracks Eagle P3 commuter rail project, the first P3 (Public Private Partnership) transportation project in the U.S.  He will give an overview of how a successful P3 project works and describe how it developed in the Denver Regional Transportation District. Admission is free but registration is required as space is limited  If you bring a guest, please register them separately - only one guest per registration.


The CDA will have a booth at the Festival to promote members' businesses and Takoma/Langley to area residents.  Coupon pages will be given away to festival-goers encouraging them to patronize your businesses. The FREE festival is a very popular event with artists' stalls, live music, community organizations, and food vendors. It is located near the Takoma Metro station.

Bi-County Diwali Festival

On October 15, the 2nd Annual Takoma/Langley Diwali Festival will be held in Langley Park Plaza, sponsored by the CDA, Prince George's Council Member Deni Taveras, and the City of Takoma Park. The annual Hindu Festival of Lights will come to the bi-county Takoma/Langley Crossroads showcasing the area's rich cultural traditions.  From 1:00-6:00pm, traditional Indian music, dancing, poetry and culture will be presented onstage by The Hindu Temple of Metropolitan Washington and Sri Siva Vishnu Temple of Landover. The free, family-friendly festival will include vendors selling Indian clothing, jewelry, housewares, and delicious vegetarian Indian food.  Contact the CDA for vendor applications.

Prescott Washington

CDA member Melvin P. Ashley, of Prescott Washington Financial LLC, has a new website, www.pw-financial.net. Takoma Park Street Festival

Takoma Park Police will be hosting a blood drive sponsored by the Red Cross.  All blood types are needed; snacks and drinks will be provided. Please avoid taking aspirin 48 hours prior to donating and you must be over 110 pounds to donate.
