It's been one year since we launched our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. In our first year we've already had a dozen participants who have reached their goal of one thousand books! Everyone who is currently signed up for the program should keep an eye out for their invitation to our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Party on October 23.
Not participating in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten yet? Stop by the children's desk and we'll get you signed up. It's great for your child's development, and it's also easy for parents: you don't have to write down book titles, re-reads are not only allowed but encouraged, and there's lots of stickers involved. We're talking US Olympic team levels of winning here. But don't wait too long to sign up - only children who haven't started kindergarten can participate.
Starting in September, all new library cards will be automatically assigned a PIN. Find out what you can do with your PIN and how to change your PIN on our website.
Stop by the library and many other Platteville Main Street businesses from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on October 29 for a fun afternoon of trick-or-treating.

We'll also be handing out treats at the library on October 31 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.

Be a part of a global book club with "This is Where it Ends" by Marieke Nijkamp.

Unlimited copies of this e-book and e-audiobook are available through Wisconsin's Digital Library between October 13-27, so there's no wait to get your copy. Check out the book at
http://bit.ly/2cLfxkP.

If you've never used your library card to download e-books, stop by the reference desk and we'll give you directions for setting up your OverDrive account.

This Is Where It Ends is a compelling story of an unfortunately all-too familiar situation: a school shooting. It follows four teens who face what is every student’s worst nightmare: a boy with a gun. Told from the student’s perspective, this powerful fictional account is important in its timeliness. At its core, Marieke Nijkamp’s debut young adult novel is a must read, gripping tale from start to finish.
