What a fun month of diversity and inclusive events. I was very excited to attend AlterConf Dublin on August 6th and learnt a lot from the amazing stories told that day. Soon after, Etsy & Coding Grace partnered for our first ever Allyship workshop on August 11th. I didn't take many photos from both events, I have however captured some of my thoughts which includes storyified links of folks tweets from both events. I attended Intertech Ireland's Wonder Women event (Aug 18), which had an array of fantastic speakers.

Besides all the wonderful events I attended, I want to mention about the sad passing of an amazing and talented person in sci-tech, Jemma Redmond. She left behind an amazing legacy, for those who don't know, she worked on producing bioprinters to print items used for medicine.
Big thanks to WITS Ireland and Women in Technology Galway for inviting Coding Grace to mentor a beginner's Python workshop as The Porter Shed recently. I had a lot of fun, met some wonderful people and the space is amazing, and it was our very first Coding Grace in Galway. Here's a couple of pics from the evening (thanks to Sandra Riordan for the photos).

I also want to say thanks to Kevin O'Brien who ran Coding Grace Limerick's second workshop in University of Limerick. Here's to more workshops in the very near future in the mid-west. :-)
As I compose this newsletter, we have completed 2 out of the 3 workshops of our joint pilot programme based on encouraging more diversity attending the workshops. I would like to thank everyone involved so far, it has been a lot of fun. The final workshop is on Saturday (Sept 3) which introduces people to Unity3D by making 2D games with the Fungus Game library. We are compiling the results of the research and will hopefully make them available in the near future.
Here's some links of interest that I pinned for this month. Do let me know if you want me to include a link to share with folks.

Any enquiries or if you want to help, please email contact@codinggrace.com.

Thanks,

/// Vicky
