New Energy Efficient Streetlights!
The City of Claremont has nearly completed the replacement of 1,079 City-owned streetlights with highly efficient LED fixtures. The new fixtures use 70% less energy than the current lights, and are expected to save the City $500,000 over their 12-year life span. In addition, LED streetlights provide high-quality directional light that reduces ambient light pollution and improves night-time visibility and color recognition.

Garden Notes Sept 2016
As schools start you can learn a lot in the September Garden Notes.  Find out the truth about "geraniums", the health benefits of various broccoli, and memorize Latin botanical terms!  Also, be amazed by the assets of the those green beetles currently getting everywhere.  As always, you can also find gardening resources in the notes.
Read it HERE.

Community Composting on Urban Farms
At the August Sustainability Dialog The Growing Club presented information about urban composting and how we may be able to compost more of Claremont's waste at local community sites.  The Board of Sustainable Claremont and City leaders have been studying and discussing the possibilities.
