Retirees Tournament 2016
In a fashion that belied their title, the HRTC retirees took to the court on the weekend with much endeavor and vigor in our newly established Retirees Tournament. Round robin handicap singles was a format that was bound to test our participants...but they were not to be under-estimated and all came through with flying colours!
Sunday morning saw Hans Drielsma, Paul Dunne, Ron Booth and David Mitchell kick proceedings off - with tennis that was particularly competitive. The matches were close, the schedule ran behind, everyone enjoyed themselves and it was David Mitchell that won the group by the narrowest of margins!

Sunday Morning Group
Our Sunday afternoon session saw Cas Pitt, John Moores, Peter Burnett and Ros Pitt take to the court in more enthralling tennis that had many of the matches going down to the wire. Club member Peter Burnett was in fine form and ended up taking out group 2 in a round robin that went down to the final match!
The Retirees Tournament finals series had our two group winners David Mitchell and Peter Burnett going point for point until halfway through the match when Peter surged ahead, won the match 8/5 - and was crowned HRTC's inaugural Retirees Tournament winner! Well done Peter on your first win!

First Friday Drinks | Friday September 2
Come along to the Club after work (5pm onwards) for a drink and a catch up. Drop a business card in the box and go into the draw to win a prize. (must be present on the night to claim)
Saturday Round Robin Singles | Saturday September 3
For those of you that are about this Saturday, we will be running two separate round robin singles groups. Choose from a Saturday morning (9am-1pm) session or Saturday arvo (1pm-5pm) session. Both groups will run independently - with some small prizes for each group winner. Contact Brett or Pat at the Club - or use the link provided below to join in the fun:

HRTC Marking Aid
For those HRTC members scoring pennant and other Club matches that have trouble applying handicaps to matches or understanding half handicaps (i.e Rec 1/2 30 v Owe 1/2 30) - help is now on it's way. A marking aid has been placed next to the markers board that explains each match handicap and how it should be applied. The marking aid will eventually be added as a permanent fixture to the markers position - but in the meantime check it out...hopefully it may help a few of you out when it's your turn to score next. Feel free to ask Brett or Pat for more details....
