A MEDRC expert workshop in Muscat called for greater cooperation between the water, energy and agriculture sectors to cut costs, energy consumption and environmental impacts.
The workshop, involving several world renowned scientists and practitioners, was entitled: “Renewable energy & desalination in the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus in the MENA region.” and took place at MEDRC headquarters in Muscat (Sultanate of Oman). READ MORE HERE

MEDRC & University of Barcelona: MoU signed
An MoU has just been signed between MEDRC and the University of Barcelona & its AECHE (Arab-Euro Conference on High Education) in order to collaborate on common topics of interest through research and capacity building activities as well as possible joint proposals for EU and regional/local projects.

Desalination Vocational Training Forum Organized to Expand the Supply of Skilled and Employable Labor in the Desalination Sector

The Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC) organized a Desalination Vocational Training Forum on Wednesday the 3rd of August 2016 at its Headquarters in North Al Hail. The forum had attendees from Key companies in the desalination industry within the region (ACWAPOWER Barka I, STOMO Barka II, RAECO, MCDOMC, SUEZ Barka IV, SOGEX & MYAH GULF OMAN). Building Technical Competence and Promoting Excellence in the Water Sector in Palestine
The event was co-hosted by the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) and the Coastal Municipality Water Utility (CMWU) between the 17th and 24th of May. 21 participants, mainly engineers, technicians and plant operator took part in the training. The trainings content was "Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant –trouble shooting and Non-Routine Maintenance" and was especially tailored for the Dier Al Balah Plant in Gaza. READ MORE HERE

Technical Capacity Building in the Palestinian Water Sector
Onsite Training to Improve Skills
In coordination with the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), the Ministry of Water and Irrigation Jordan and MEDRC two training programs were held in Jordan between the 1st and 12th of May, 2016. 20 employees of the West Bank Water Department were trained onsite of the facilities of Miyahuna (www.miyahuna.com.jo) in order to learn the necessary skills to improve the O&M of submerged pumping stations and the welding of transmission pipelines in Palestine.
