COACHING SKILLS: 
 Over the course of two mornings, participants will gain a working understanding of coaching, examine a variety of coaching models, learn key coaching skills, enhance self-awareness and listening skills, and practice with peers and others.
Fall Session 2
Dates: Tuesdays, October 25 & November 1
Time: 8:30-12:30

 

COMMUNICATION ESSENTIALS: This class will provide an introduction to fundamental skills and attitudes that enable you to stay in productive dialogue with others, even when that is challenging. You will improve your skills at clarifying your motives, expressing your message in ways that increase understanding, helping others engage in respectful dialogue, listening deeply, and getting a derailed conversation back on track. In-class skills practice will reinforce these essential tools so you can apply them with confidence in the workplace.

EFFECTIVE DECISION MAKINGIn this class you will explore formal decision-making processes, as well as the obstacles and biases that can impede your ability to think more clearly. The objective is to provide you with skills and insights you can apply immediately to improve individual and group decision-making.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

 

FOUNDATIONS OF HIGH-PERFORMING TEAMS: Based on the latest research, this class will provide you with the essential, foundational information for building a team that performs with a high degree of competence and interactivity. You will gain insights into setting a mission and vision, the importance of effective communication and managing challenges, and bringing energy and engagement to your team. Plan on an engaging, interactive session filled with practical tools.

INTRODUCTION TO SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP: Situational Leadership II®, as developed by Kenneth Blanchard, provides a common language for managers and employees. Learning how to align goals and diagnose development levels will provide information to help leaders adapt their leadership styles. Partnering for performance will help teams and individuals grow and become competent, committed contributors.

MANAGING INTERACTIONS WITH YOUR EMPLOYEES: This interactive workshop will help you develop skills for communicating with fellow employees about any topic, regardless of your title in the organization. You will learn and practice techniques and tools for setting expectations, building commitment, coaching for performance, and giving effective feedback.

MANAGING PROJECTS SUCCESSFULLYAt the end of the session, participants will be able to define the characteristics of a successful project and describe the phases of a project life cycle; recognize and manage the challenges of leading in a functional organization structure versus a project-management matrix organization; employ specific techniques to execute each major phase of a project (including determining project requirements, planning tools, project control, and evaluation methods); and apply effective leadership behaviors in the project-team environment to enhance communication, motivation and trust.
Date:  Monday & Tuesday, September 12 & 13

RUNNING EFFECTIVE MEETINGSParticipants will learn when to call a meeting, how to prepare for a meeting, and how to keep meetings brief and productive. Strategies for using tools such as agendas, minutes, and ground rules to maximize productivity will be presented. Participants will also learn tips for managing latecomers, cliques, and disruptive participants.

VALUABLE PRESENTATION SKILLS: This course provides tangible, practical tools to handle these questions and many others. Upon completing this program, participants will be able to prepare a presentation by identifying clear goals and objectives, research and organize content effectively, gain tools to effectively, interact with an audience, identify methods to improve public speaking skills, and improve their presentation skills through self-evaluation and the evaluation of other presenters.
