School is in full swing! 
IMPORTANT REMINDERS: NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPT 5th in observance of Labor Day.
Additionally, we have had a number of families dropping students off prior to 7:30 am for early care. While we do have staff on campus at that time, that time is dedicated for early morning meetings, planning/room prep for staff, and custodial services. In order to ensure that students are safe and monitored at all times, PLEASE DO NOT DROP CHILDREN OFF BEFORE 7:30 AM. There will be no supervision available nor any staff in the office to answer the buzzer. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
We hope your second week at Larchmont FFX was a great one! We know our year is in full swing when Back to School Night approaches. From TK/Kindergarten all the way to fourth grade, students have been busy preparing special writing and/or art samples for you to view that night when you visit classrooms. We hope everyone will join us for one of the biggest nights of our year - - to see student work on display, but also for teacher presentations as well as presentations from school leadership. Please read on for IMPORTANT information about Back to School Night….
Special note: We have intentionally designed BTS night into two segments (with K/1/2 and 3/4 in reverse order) so families with children in multiple grades will not miss as all presentations.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide childcare due to space restrictions - - all 10 classrooms and the auditorium will both be in use for the evening. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Schedule for Back to School Night:
K/1/2: 5:30 - 6:15 in CLASSROOMS
6:15 - 7:00 in AUDITORIUM (all grades)
3/4: 6:15 - 7:00 in AUDITORIUM (all grades)
7:00 - 7:45 in CLASSROOMS
Bonus: On Back to School Night, we will have sign ups available for our various school committees, and staff will be there to assist with E-funds sign ups and pledge payments beginning as early as 5 pm.
***Please allot extra time to find parking!! Additional parking is available at Starbucks (7901 Santa Monica Blvd) for a fee. Parking lot is not monitored by or affiliated with Larchmont. ***

School Updates
Wow! Such great things happening across all our campuses! Seeing our gorgeous new Kinder classrooms at Fairfax and how our 4th grade students and staff have seamlessly integrated in to life at that campus has been great. Hollygrove’s new Kinderland and whole campus are sparkling after amazing parent volunteer beautification efforts! Both the teachers and students from different campuses have come together to become fast friends and form vibrantly strong teams at both Selma and LFP! Lastly, I’ve loved seeing our new leaders and staff in action across the campuses – they are phenomenal additions! It’s going to be a great year. You all should have received the annual giving letter – thank you in advance for generously supporting the work of our teachers and for all you are doing to make it a fantastic year at Larchmont. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at Back to School Night next week and the following week. Have a great long weekend!

Draft Parent Handbook
2016-17 School Handbook-DRAFT Now Available
Larchmont Charter School’s 2016-17 School Handbook, Draft version pending Board approval, is now available here. Please read through it and we will send the final version once it is approved.
The handbook contains critical information about school policies, including health and safety, behavior and discipline, emergency protocols, rights and protections, and more. Please review the handbook carefully and let us know if there are any questions.

Carpool Hours: 2:50-3:30 (M, T, Th, F) /1:20-2:00 (Wednesday)
First grade and Second hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 to 3:00
Wednesday: 8:30 - 1:30
Carpool Hours: 3:00-3:30 (M, T, Th, F) /1:30-2:00 (Wednesday)
Third and Fourth grade hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 to 3:10
Wednesday: 8:30 - 1:40
Carpool Hours: 3:10-3:30 (M, T, Th, F) /1:40-2:00 (Wednesday)
Don't forget to check your Friday Folder this weekend!
Friday Folders
Don't forget to EMPTY the contents of your child's Friday Folder EACH WEEK. We had many Friday Folders returned with contents still inside them. The Friday Folder is a home-to-school communication folder. This folder will be sent home every Friday and will need to be returned every Monday. The office and teachers will put notices and other things that need to be kept at home OR returned in the folder. From time to time, your child will also have permission slips, payment slips, or other paperwork that needs to be completed and returned. Please make sure that you check that your child has their folder when they come home every Friday to ensure that paperwork is addressed in a timely manner. Occasionally, students forget their folders in their cubbies or in after school. Should that happen, please let them take responsibility for checking their cubby, the lost and found bin, or checking with their teacher to locate the folder.

Car line reminders
Thank you so much to all of the families that have been adhering to our carpool policies! With you're help, we've been able to keep our car line moving swiftly and safely.
Just a few things to keep in mind as you proceed into and through the car line...
- Staff is not permitted to buckle students into carseats for safety reasons. If students need help buckling in, parents should park in a parking space to assist them with this.
- Parents and students walking in should only enter through the front gate. The carpool gate is for students exiting cars ONLY.
- No left turns in or out of the lot!
- Please arrive at your designated pick up time. Times are staggered by grade level (see above).
- Display your carpool placard on the right hand side of your windshield.
- Pull up as far as you can so as not to block traffic on Fairfax.

Birthday Books
As a way to celebrate student birthdays, each month Larchmont Fairfax will send home a Birthday Book flyer in Friday Folders. Families who are interested can purchase a birthday book. Students will be able to select a birthday book from within a selection of books we order each month.
We will present them with their birthday book on the LAST FRIDAY of the month at School Sing. Students get to be the first ones to take the book home and read it (with their nameplate inside of the book), and when they're done they return it to school to be added to our school library.
Birthday Books are a great way to celebrate birthdays, but also a great way to replenish our school library with new books each month.
Be on the lookout for Birthday Book flyers in the Friday Folder sometime DURING YOUR CHILD'S BIRTH MONTH.
WHERE'S MY WATER BOTTLE, MOM?
Lost and Found
Every classroom has a green lost and found bin. If your child misplaces a jacket, water bottle, Friday Folder, etc., please remind them that that's the first place they'd want to check.
We also have a larger school lost and found near the carpool benches. Please check the lost and found regularly because the contents of the lost and found bins are donated at the end of each month.
