Getting Started in Albertville

We have arrived in Albertville to begin language school! Thank you so much for your prayers. We left last Sunday and had a smooth day of travel. This past week we have settled into our apartment, made a trip to the grocery store, visited a few bakeries and markets, took placement tests and had orientation to school. Friday we met all the other students and had our first classes. Monday will be our first full day at the school. We bought some school supplies this weekend. It has certainly been a while since we have had to buy school supplies for ourselves! Please pray for us as we adjust to attending school and beginning to learn the French language.

Pray for Peace

“Gabon is on edge after thousands of people took to the streets this week to protest the reelection of President Ali Bongo, whose family has ruled the oil-producing central-African nation for nearly a half-century. The opposition candidate, Jean Ping, denounced the results as fraudulent. Five people died in rioting and up to 1,100 were arrested, government officials told reporters.” -Washington Post.

As you know, Amy and I are eventually headed to Bongolo Hospital in Gabon. News from the team has been sporadic. They are safe as most of the violence and looting has been limited to the capital and other larger cities. We hear it remains quiet around the hospital and care continues in Jesus’ name. But, even in the smaller towns fear remains concerning limited supplies of food and other necessities. People continue to stock up. Pray for Gabon. Pray for peace and stability in these uncertain times. Pray for the Bongolo team.
