Super Summer 2016 coming to a close
|
|
pictured above - BFF with more than 50 people stormed the local beach and basically doubled the population in this small enclosed beach area. It was a great time of fellowship and outreach, while having fun and keeping cool in the water!
What an amazing summer! We had so many activities, such intense ministry and saw God do such great things, it has taken a couple of weeks to recover and feel like we have our feet back on the ground and are ready to head into fall. Thank you so much for praying for all of summer's activities. One BFF kid shared in BFF last week that his favorite part about summer was that we got through everything safely and happily! And I couldn't agree more. From CMA events and activities to the Texas Team week full of beach party, summer school, and family camp, the Lord did a mighty work and we want to give Him all praise and glory for it. Please lift up prayers this coming weekend for most of the BFF members, as almost everyone in our church will be going on a ministry trip to serve one of the most earthquake devastated areas of Kumamoto on Saturday. Our church will be a assisting with an evangelistic outreach event, kind of like a festival. Everyone will man booths for fun and games, while helping the church reach out to the community and provide the people with things they need. This area still has collapsed houses and many people are living evacuated from their still uninhabitable homes. In the past 24 hours there have been several stronger aftershocks in the area, a couple that we could feel here in Kitakyushu, so please pray for safety. Also pray for those in search of a Savior, as our church interacts with them! Pray we will be salt and light to this devastated area!!! *update on this trip, in the few hours since I first wrote this newsletter and was waiting for some links to add, a typhoon has formed and is headed our way. It appears that this trip will be postponed. Please pray for the area that may receive a direct hit from typhoon.
Finally, our team appreciates your prayers as we head back in to "normal life" after such an intense and exhausting couple of months of summer ministry. We are fairly rested and recovered, but we appreciate your prayers for stamina for the fall season of ASK (starting next Friday), BFF, Bible studies, homeschool and all other areas of ministry! As the ministry grows, so does our responsibilities. The Camps are doing an amazing job of building relationships, teaching Bible, learning Japanese and continuing to adjust to life here in Japan.
