Party Help Needed

Dear Wellow Teenagers

We are looking for some help from 2/3 young people to serve drinks, collect glasses etc at a 21st Birthday party for Charlie on Saturday 10th September.

The venue is at Manor Farm, Stony Littleton.

The hours would be from about 7.30 - 11.30ish and you would of course, be welcome to join the party thereafter.

I would like you to wear black trousers/skirt and a white shirt please

If you are interested in earning some cash and you think you can help me out, please call Yvonne Small: 01373 834470 / 07719 353554

I look forward to speaking to you.

This months meditation will be held at 8.00pm in St Julian’s Church.
Tom Benyon our curate will be looking at different forms of meditation.
Everyone welcome whether you are an experienced meditator or interested
in exploring the concept. The evening closes at 9.00

It has come to the notice of Wellow Parish Council that a substantial dam has been built across the Wellow Brook on the east side of the ford.  The co-owner of this stretch of river has pointed out that this is an illegal act and can have a detrimental effect on the trout population.  Other consequences can be the erosion of the river banks and subsequent loss of trees.

The dam will be dismantled by the landowner and Wellow Parish Council would be grateful if parishioners would refrain from this illegal activity on private property in future.

Katie Chillies

My Katie Chilli plant is highly productive this year and is producing extremely hot fruit. I'm happy to give some of these away to anyone who wants to try them or who thinks they can use them. Would you be able to email the village making the offer:

Free to collector - extremely hot 'Katie' Chillies. I have a surplus of Katie chillies and will gladly share them with anyone who thinks they can use them. Katies are the hottest UK bred chillies and, being rated at 1,590, 000 scoville units, are not for the faint hearted. If you're interested give me a call on 01225-834329 around 18:30 or e-mail me at chriscook495@hotmail.com.

Many thanks

Chris

Dear Packhorse supporter
We're getting close now! If we can raise £100,000 in the next 3 weeks then we will buy the Packhorse for the community. Just last week we received funds or firm commitments of £53,000 bringing our total raised to date to £428,850 - well over 80% of the purchase price from over 130 investors. Many thanks to all concerned!
We still have a lot to raise and time is limited so please act today. You can help immediately by investing now and by forwarding this message to family and friends.
If you have questions about the project there are many ways to get in touch:
  • visit our web site or our Facebook page
  • meet us at Bath Farmers' Market (Saturday mornings at Green Park Station)
  • pick up the latest copy of Bristol CAMRA's award winning "Pints West" newsletter (page 24)
  • look out for coverage in the Bath Chronicle
  • or simply reply to this message!
Also, we're holding another public meeting at 6:30pm on Saturday 10 September outside the pub and in South Stoke village hall to discuss progress and give shareholders and potential investors a final opportunity to meet and question the team before we buy the pub.
If you've not yet invested, please do so now by reading our prospectus and sending us your completed share application form.
With thanks,

Dear members, Despite my earlier requests, and notices at the site, evergreen and woody Willow cuttings have been left at the site recently. It takes a lot of time and energy to cut up and dispose of them into green bins, for BANES to pick up fortnightly.

I would therefore ask that, in future, only weeds and grass cuttings be deposited at the site, please.

Reflections on Life's a Dream

Marian Osborne has written about the successful theatre production that took place on the playing fields a short while ago. You can read it here on the Wellow Recreation website

I have a tin of Dulux "Raspberry Diva" Matt wall paint, 1.25 litres, which is surplus to requirements. It has not been opened.

I have put it on our bench outside Myrtle Cottage (opposite the school).  If it's of use to you just come along and take it.
