For more information about the EIPA and licensing, go to: http://dpi.wi.gov/sped/program/deaf-hard-of-hearing/interpreters/licensing.
To register for the EIPA, go to: EIPA Registration. The online form will provide you with the opportunity to indicate your preferences for test dates, times and location.
In addition, you will need to submit and send your payment of $100. Please note: We will not schedule your EIPA slot until payment is received. Once we receive your payment, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences. Your check, made out to DPI – EIPA, should be sent to:
DPI - EIPA
Attn.: Deb Anklam
125 South Webster Street
Madison WI 53703
A confirmation letter with your date and time will be sent once your online registration and payment have been received.
All EIPA tapes are scored by teams at Boys Town National Research Hospital; EIPA Diagnostic Center. Expect four to six months to get your results. Your test results include a comprehensive diagnostic report.
For license renewal, it is strongly suggested that you take the EIPA at least one year prior to the expiration date of your license. For those whose license expires in June 2017, you are encouraged to register for the winter test dates (it can take four to six months to obtain the results). All those whose license expires in June 2017 or 2018 are encouraged to take the EIPA this year.
For those of you who will take the EIPA during May or June, you should get your results by October or November 2017 respectfully. If your license expires June 30, 2016, the EIPA will count for the 2012-2017 licensing period even if you get your results after June 30th. You are encouraged to take the EIPA earlier in the year to avoid the last minute stress.
If you have any questions regarding the EIPA process in Wisconsin, please contact eipa@dpi.wi.gov. If you have questions for staff in licensing, please contact Mark Schwingle at mark.schwingle@dpi.wi.gov.
