Pre-register Now for the 2016 KOTESOL International Conference


Pre-registration is now open for the 2016 KOTESOL International Conference, which will be held October 15 & 16 at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul. Register online now through October 1 to save time and money!

Conference fees: Weekend conference passes will also be available for purchase onsite (cash only); and as with last year, a Sunday-only conference pass will be available for purchase onsite on Sunday, October 16, only (40,000 won members / 60,000 won non-members, cash only).

In addition, the International Conference Committee and Membership Committee are pleased to announce a special discounted rate at the Best Western Premier Seoul Garden Hotel, a short taxi ride from the conference venue, if you reserve through KOTESOL and pay by October 1.

Nominations Now Open for KOTESOL National Elections

 

Interested in running for a national office this year? Nominations are now open! The following positions are available:

  • First Vice-President
  • Second Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • International Conference Co-chair
  • Nominations & Elections Chair

Nominations will close on September 23, and online voting will take place October 1-13. Printed ballots will also be available onsite at the International Conference (October 15 & 16). The winners will be announced on October 16 at the Annual Business Meeting.

KOTESOL Members' Discount to the 3rd AILA East-Asia & 2016 ALAK-GETA Joint International Conference

 

Join the Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter this month at The 3rd AILA East-Asia and 2016 ALAK-GETA Joint International Conference on September 9-11, 2016, at Honam University in Gwangju; the chapter will be having their September meeting on September 10 as part of the conference. KOTESOL members get a special discount on conference registration; pre-register online through September 5 for the best possible rate. Conference passes for KOTESOL members are just 25,000 won during pre-registration, 30,000 won onsite (with proof of KOTESOL membership; membership must expire on or after September 30, 2016). To register, please click here.

Present at Regional Conference in November


The Yongin Chapter invites proposals from presenters for their 2016 conference, which has the theme "Practical Classroom Activities for Empowering Students." The conference will be held on November 12 at Kangnam University in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. Presenters, whether experienced or novice, are encouraged to submit a proposal by September 30; for additional information, please click here.

The Jeonju-North Jeolla Chapter invites interested presenters to submit proposals for their 2016 regional conference, scheduled to be held at Jeonju University on November 19. The chapter particularly seeks workshops that focus on practical applications and actively involve participants. Apply for a Research Grant


The KOTESOL Research Committee invites all members, both experienced researchers and novices, to apply for a research grant. Submit your application by October 31. Additional information and submission guidelines can be found online.

Submit to KOTESOL Publications


The Korea TESOL Journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis and welcomes papers from all members. Submit now to be considered for Volume 12, Number 2, to be published in 2016. Submissions received too late to be included in this issue will be considered for Volume 13, Number 1. For more information and submission guidelines, please click here.

Classroom Observation Program
If you'd like to be paired with an experienced teacher to observe their class or ask them to give feedback on your own classes, please fill out the request form online. Experienced teachers, volunteer here to observe or be observed!
Hard Copies of Publications
The Proceedings 2014 and Korea TESOL Journal 11-2, the most recent issues of each publication, are available online. Hard copies of each are available to members upon request; please visit the respective publication pages to learn more.

Save a Tree! Opt Out of TEC Hard Copies

Did you know you can opt out of receiving hard copies of The English Connection (TEC)? Just select "Don't Send (Postal) Mail" in your online profile ("My account" --> "Edit" tab --> scroll to the check box just below the "Postal Mailing Address Label" box): 



You'll still be able to access all issues of TEC online--even the most recent ones, as long as your membership is current.
