Dear colleague,

This issue of our newsletter is dedicated to new activities at the European Public Health Conference 9-12 November 2016 in Vienna.

Half-day training session for starting HSR researchers, Thursday 10 Nov
Focus will be on providing training for about 15-20 participants on enhancing the applicability of their research for policy making. Participants are invited to submit an abstract for presentation, but can also join without abstract. In total 5 participants will be able to provide a 10-15 minute presentation, followed by feedback from senior researchers and policy makers, among others on how to make your evidence both stronger and more attractive for policy making. Other participants will be able to provide an elevator pitch on their work. Registration and abstract submission is possible using this form. Preference goes out to presentations by starting researchers (less than five years of HSR experience) and to presentations not already provided during the main EPH Conference. The meeting (on Thursday 10 November, from 09.00-12.45 hrs) is kindly hosted by GÖG Austria, about 30 minutes from the conference location. Costs are € 30,- (including sandwich lunch). By 12 October we will let participants know whether they are selected for oral presentation.

Free preconference on evidence-informed decision making in substantive topic areas
This year we will co-organise a new full-day preconference on Wednesday 9 November, focusing on improving implementation of evidence-informed health policies and interventions in four topic areas: integrated care models for the chronically ill; policies and care models for rare diseases, access to care for migrants & refugees; and collaboration in cancer control policies. The preconference will be free of charge, with sponsoring from the European Commission (CHAFEA) as lead organiser. Other co-organisors are the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO Euro), EUPHA Section on HSR, EUPHA Section on Public health practice and policy and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. If you already registered for the main conference it is possible to add the preconference to your basket by sending an e-mail to registration@ephconference.eu

Early bird registration to EPH Conference ends 1 September
