Hello BLPG Members,

Welcome to the new format for the meeting summaries!
A couple of weeks' ago, I did a 'Newsletter and Mailing List Strategy for Your Business or Blog' workshop with Amanda Kendle. It was a whirlwind intro to MailChimp, but it seems to have done the job because, well, here's a newsletter! Please forgive any errors and put them down to 'teething problems'.
Some of you might remember Amanda from when she spoke to our group back at the end of 2014 (I think). If you want to set up a website or learn about reaching people through social media, Amanda is the person to see.
I thought I'd try out a newsletter format and keep the website for information about our group and writing tips and information like that.

LOUISE ALLAN
One of the reasons I've taken so long to write this newsletter is because I wanted to be able to share my news. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on a few things, so it will have to wait until next time. Watch this space ...

Let me know if you're about to be published, or if you've been shortlisted or commended in a competition, or if you have any writing news, so I can share it here.
COMING UP

Guest speaker for our next meeting on 18th September is Rashida Murphy, whose novel, 'The Historian's Daughter' has just been released by UWA Publishing. She'll be talking to us about her writing journey, in particular the writing of her novel. If you want to purchase a copy for her to sign on the day, or so you can ask her more about it, visit the UWAP website at the link above.
