 Dear Parents and Friends of Czech and Slovak School,
Please join us for an Open House on Friday, September 9th, at 7pm at Carderock Springs Elementary School in Bethesda.
We will be accepting registrations for children (ages 6 & up) and adults for Czech and Slovak classes, Czech & Slovak Preschool (ages 3 to 5), folk dancing, and children’s gymnastics, for 2016/2017.
School Fees: $65/1 child, $90/2 children, $115/3 children, $135/4 children per Semester
Sokol Annual Family Membership: $50 (all) +$15 Administrative Fee (new members only)
Checks or cash accepted. Checks are payable to “ASW DC School Fund”.

In 2007, our Unit held the first of what has become an annual bike ride held in memory of one of our members, Brother Libor Kozák , who tragically lost his life while descending Mt. Everest. Libor was a great sports enthusiast; thus this event fittingly honors his memory.
The bike ride usually takes place in early October and leads through the beautiful landscapes of Northern Virginia or southern Maryland. Routes vary in length to accommodate bikers of all ages and abilities. And, there always is a good, hearty dinner waiting at the end of the ride. We hope you can join us!

 American Sokol Washington is planning to participate in this festival and prepare certain performances such as the traditional CZ and SK folk dancing and singing of CZ and SK campfire songs.
We will finalize headcount of performers by early September.
Anyone is welcome to attend and thus support the large community of enthusiasts in Virginia with CZ and SK heritage who will appreciate having our Sokol visitors and performers there.

The Annual Sokol Membership Appreciation Picnic will be held at Fletcher’s Boathouse, just minutes from downtown Washington, DC., for all Sokol family members, free of charge.
Guests are welcome, with voluntary donations to Sokol Washington also being welcome.
Expect to enjoy volleyball, mini-soccer, great food, kids activities, leisurely boat or canoe ride, bike ride along the C & O canal, and, of course, charming company.

 15th Annual Potomac walking marathon for children young and old. 42 km and 195 m light pace walk along C&O canal's tree alleys and the Potomac river of Violetts Locke, Harper's ferry direction and back.
You will also enjoy the rustle of fallen golden colored leaves, warming sun rays and conversing with friends; while slow pace walking; at just about any topic.

family friendly sport. Events are organized by the local orienteering

Youth Summer Camp
The director of men Bro. Miroslav Honzák would like to extend thank you to all participants of this year’s Youth Summer Camp. During a week-long camp which took place at the end of August, children and their parents pursued outdoor recreation and structured activities. Thank you Bro. Miroslav for your leadership and dedication to this annual event.
