New soundset for Hive - Catalyst

Hive soundset from Kabuki: Catalyst

Heavily influenced by the underground sound of bass music, hip hop, drum and bass, dubstep and juke, DJ / producer Kabuki has collected 150 sounds from his Hive production library: low-end bass rumbles, atmospheric pads, jagged leads, tempo-synced loops… Catalyst bursts with creative sparks for your next track. Use the presets as-is or as jumping off points for fresh ideas.

Gareth Jones video interview

Gareth Jones interview

It would take too much space and time to cover Gareth Jones' accomplishments since he started his musical career in the late 80s (Erasure, Nick Cave, Einstürzende Neubauten, Wire, Depeche Mode, Interpol, Orbital, Garbage…). A glance at his Discogs page tells the whole story. What's new is the Spiritual Friendship project he created alongside his friend Nick Hook.

Amidst the bustle of Superbooth, we jumped at the chance to interview Gareth. What followed became a highlight of our weekend. He spoke about creativity, Spiritual Friendship, new and old gear, and the personal philosophy he learned from 30 years in the music business.

Watch the two-part interview with Gareth Jones.

Since we introduced the free "researchware" RePro-Alpha earlier this year, we have been working hard preparing Repro-1 for release. It is not done yet, but the finish line is close. To whet your appetite, we have a sneak peek at Repro-1's progress so far.

Performer soundset

Performer soundset

In case you missed the June newsletter, we recently released a new Diva soundset: Performer. Our own Howard Scarr handcrafted 130 inspiring presets with a focus on dynamic performance. Each preset has up to five dimensions of control—velocity, bender, modulation, aftertouch and breath—for maximum expression while you play.

Spanning 40 years of synth history, Performer offers polyphonic strings, brass and organs, monophonic leads, basses and truly playable arpeggios—all polished and ready for your next performance.
