"Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you."
-Psalm 119:90-91
SHAKIRA and her sister Isadora came into our family in 2013. Though it took her a bit to warm up, Shakira’s giggly and tender-hearted personality shines bright! She loves playing with her sisters in the home, coloring, and jumping rope. It has been a joy to watch her grow and mature. Her bright smile brings light to everyone around her, and is her 'go-to' look when causing mischief. Please pray with us that Shakira would continue to heal from past hurts, grow in the talents and gifts God has given her, and feel always secure in the love she finds in Jesus.

Shakira is currently 53% sponsored to cover her basic needs such as food, clothing, clean drinking water, education, and medical care. Click on the button below to sponsor her and become a part of her story!

US Director Transition

Please help us welcome the newest member of our team, Amanda Magnuson! Amanda joins the Child Hope family as our new US Director of Operations at our office in Santa Barbara, CA. She received her Bachelor's degree in psychology from Westmont College, and more recently earned her Master's Degree in Human Rights at University College London. While in London, Amanda interned for World Vision and wrote her dissertation on girls' education in Zimbabwe. She is excited to apply her knowledge and experience as the US Director at here at Child Hope.

Amanda will be replacing our US Director of 2.5 years, Heather Moore. Heather and her husband, Matt, will be embarking on a new adventure this fall to travel and scuba dive throughout Southeast Asia. You can follow along their journey HERE. Thank you, Heather, for your love and dedication to the ministry of Child Hope over these years - you will be greatly missed!

Graduate Celebration

This past month, Gibson, Richard, Daniel, Davidson, and Oline officially graduated out of our homes! It has been such a blessing and honor to watch each of them grow up and become the young men and woman they are today. Each one is so uniquely gifted and talented, and we can't wait to witness how God will use their lives for the sake of His glory in Haiti, and around the world.

This past month, we had the chance to throw a celebration to send them off! Our staff and kids gathered together to share a meal on the patio of our Guesthouse, and listened as each of the graduates shared a bit of their hearts. It was definitely a bittersweet moment to send them off, but we are confident that God will continue the good work that He started in each of them. We thank each of you for all of the ways you have loved and supported these young people over the years - you have made an impact far greater than you will probably ever know, and we want you to know how deeply thankful we are. For the next couple of months we will be featuring all of our grads.  Check out the first few below!

Graduate Features

OLINE has been welcomed in by the family of our children's home supervisor, Joel. She has become a role model for our younger girls, and will hopefully be moving into a caretaker role for them to save money for her future. She will continue to attend homeschooling classes to help her complete 9th grade, whereupon she will be eligible to transition into a vocational program.

GIBSON will be living and working at the Haiti Teen Challenge transition house, where he will be living with another musician who works with Teen Challenge. Gibson will be staying busy finishing his last year of high school, and hopes to continue to stay involved with Teen Challenge after that.

Partner Spotlight: Sa Voix

Child Hope is blessed to have so many friends and partners both here in Haiti, and around the world, who join with us to provide opportunities for our children and graduates. This month, we are excited to feature Sa Voix, a social enterprise that exists to help young woman discover their voice through the arts. Two of our graduates, Renise and Dieunithe, are closely involved with Sa Voix, and we are excited to share what they are all about with you! Sa Voix's founder, Jessica, shares in her own words below.

Sa Voix is a platform for young woman to explore their creativity, exercise critical thinking skills, and be empowered to self-awareness and sufficiency. Through Sa Voix, young woman receive mentoring, skill and business training, and employment through our brand. We believe that when given permission to be heard, we gain the power to grow.

We currently have three woman working with Sa Voix: Renise, Dieunithe, and Roseline (Renise's older sister). These three girls have made huge strides together since we began this past February 2016, I have watched each of them grow in creativity, communication, confidence and responsibility. As our work continues to grow, I anticipate that they will continue to rise up and step into the leadership roles I believe they are called to.

Sa Voix, meaning Her Voice, is the touch stone we constantly revisit. From the very beginning, this vision has been inspired by Renise's ideas and voice, and it is my goal to always include her voice, as well as the other girl's voices, in the way we operate.

Over the next four months we have a lot to look forward to, as the girls are currently in production for our first collection that will be launched around Thanksgiving. We have worked closely with a designer from NYC to curate our product line into a very cohesive story and plan to release this to the public with new online presence and a pop up shop in Chicago. Each bag is carefully hand painted through art therapy based approach and is sewn by the young women in Haiti.

"Sa Voix means help people searching their voice; tout moun se yon moun - everyone is someone. Everyone has a voice, our voice might different, listen to Sa Voix story it can help you find yours. For me, Sa Voix means TO DREAM, that my voice is heard. Every time I see someone buying something or wearing Sa Voix stuff, it makes me feel that my voice is spreading all over the world." -Renise
