(ANTI-) SOCIAL NORMS

Loneliness can break you, but it can also make you. Also, data on why small talk is so excruciating.

(DEVIOUS) PRO-TIP?!

Consider typing “Sent from my iPhone,” even when you didn’t actually write an email on your phone, because, well ...

Michigan Mania

ICYMI

There has been a lot of U-M pride on the internet this week, and I’m all about it. In case you missed it: An alumna and writer for the New Yorker attempts to elucidate the magic of being a Wolverine. Plus, Phelps’ 16-week-old son is already destined for Ann Arbor, duh.

AND ANOTHER ONE

We were also recently ranked among the top 25 universities in the world—yeah, the WORLD—not to mention the No.1 public university. Honestly, all this #winning is getting exhausting (jk).

you can’t resist this

The event you didn’t even know you’d been waiting for is finally here ... the 6th annual Dean’s Young Alumni Council Reception! If you’re in and around A2, all recent LSA graduates are welcome as we ring in another year of the DYAC, and celebrate (among other things) being young and wild and free college grads. On Friday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the LSA Building, come hang out with LSA Dean Andrew Martin and fellow young alumni—and hear about a groundbreaking opportunity for LSA alumni and students. Need more reasons to be there? Two words: free food. Aaaaand access to Penn State tickets. Plus, I’ll be there? Click here to RSVP.

Upcoming Events

everywhere | all september | childhood cancer awareness month

Sometimes when you’re a ~young LSA alumna~, you do very cool things like help organize a campaign aimed at blocking out pediatric cancer the summer before you start grad school. S/O to said alumna, Taylor Sullivan (’16), for spreading the word that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital wants to make it count. FYI, cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children in the United States. U-M leads the nation in an unprecedented approach to personalized oncology, and you can support that cause by purchasing some v. cute swag, sharing on social media, or making a donation. Learn more about how you can do your part to #BlockOutCancer!

The Friday Bluebook

What is the most popular LSA major? (Click answer below.)

A

Comm.

B

Econ.

C

Psych.

The vast majority (74%) of you thought the first organized sport on campus was track and field. Don’t feel too bad—I probably would’ve said the same thing. Only 7% of you fell for football, which means a measly 19% of you correctly guessed cricket. And then you went and drank a spot of tea.
