THANK YOU
for your support
A big thank you for the generous financial support from our growing number of regular and one-off donors! Please enjoy reading the highlights below that represent just a few of the many ways that donations to Peace Partners have been of help.

Many donors choose to contribute to specific projects and these may be in the UK or further afield. Other donors offer support for Peace Partners to allocate their contribution to where the need is greatest. Either way it's good to know that 100% of each donation is forwarded to each chosen allocation!  Also because Peace Partners is a registered UK charity, an added bonus is that donations received via Gift Aid are increased by 25%.

Keeping the Peace: Mexican Navy Integrates Peace Education
The Mexican Navy is trying a new approach to domestic peacekeeping in the troubled city of Veracruz. The force recently incorporated the Peace Education Program (PEP) into its training regime, offering the course to more than 240 marines, police officers, and security officials at its base there.

With many local authorities enmeshed in corruption, the federal government dispatched the Navy to help restore order. The force is taking a holistic approach to its duties—not only detaining criminals, but also trying to address the underlying social problems that lead to crime in the first place. Read more...

International Peace Day 21st September 2016 - update

Oldham Peace Week

A member of the Peace Partners team visited Oldham, Lancashire to take part in the town's inaugural Peace Week and Peace Day celebrations, and shared some of his experiences with us:

"What is happening in Oldham is quite amazing ... The local council itself along with a growing range of groups, schools, teachers and pupils are getting involved and actively participating in enthusiastically  embracing peace initiatives ..... Activists there have a track record of pioneering as far as the Pledge To Peace is concerned, and now it can be seen what happens when local groups embrace the Pledge To Peace both in letter and spirit. What I am witnessing here is quite inspiring!"

Read more about the week in Phil Lewis' series of blog articles here.

The Oldham Evening Chronicle report published on 21st September about the local initiatives can be read here.

During the course of the week's activities the Pledge to Peace was signed by several groups including The Rochdale and Littleborough Peace Group, which you can read about here.

She Can Achieve Peace

Peace Partners Trustee Mary Dalgleish recently met with Chika Okeke, UK Regional manager of the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) to participate in IWPG's "She Can Achieve Peace" Campaign.  IWPG believe that the voice of women and girls is of pivotal importance to the peace process. Through this campaign IWPG aims to spread a Culture of Peace and help fulfil Article 10 of the Declaration of Peace & Cessation of War by asking inspiring women what peace means to them, how they find peace, and how they work to achieve peace in their lives and in the communities they serve.

Mary who is actively involved with the Prem Rawat Foundation's Peace Education Programme (PEP) was happy to meet with Chika and share information about the PEP and its impact.
