As part of its 62nd Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Atlanta this week, the International Downtown Association recognized the Capitol Hill BID with a Merit Award for its work and initiatives related to contracting its Ready, Willing & Working Clean Team Services to other BIDs and Main Streets.  
 
The program, which has experienced tremendous growth since its inception in 2008, was among nine qualified entries in the category of Downtown Leadership and Management. This category features comprehensive and unique organizational approaches, projects, or programs that improved the effectiveness of downtown management organizations.

Marketing and Program Manager, Michelle Valeri, is currently in Atlanta to accept the award on behalf of the Capitol Hill BID. Check back next week for more information on the award and IDA Conference!

BETSY POOS APPOINTED AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CHAMPS

CHAMPS, Capitol Hill’s local Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce the appointment of Betsy Poos as its new Executive Director. Ms. Poos, a resident of Capitol Hill, is well known in the community as a former co-owner of Capitol Hill Yoga. Educated at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Government, Ms. Poos has a background in political advocacy, policy research, and administration.

CHAMPS President, Brad Johnson, affirmed that the Board is truly excited about welcoming Ms. Poos, who will provide the energy and creativity needed to advance the organization’s commitment to supporting Capitol Hill’s business community through advocacy, education and communication.

LITERARY FEAST TICKETS NOW ON SALE

On October 22nd, thirty-seven Capitol Hill homes will be opening their doors for a book-themed dinner - from Hemingway to Dr. Seuss, and everything in between. 
 
This year's amazing selection of dinners includes feasts inspired by Cuba, Southern Italy, New Orleans, Cambodia, Mars, and, of course, Hamilton. At the end of the feasts, guests are invited to join an After Party at the Hill Center for desserts, drinks, and comparing dinners with friends.
 
All proceeds go to support the Capitol Hill Community Foundation's grants to neighborhood schools. This fantastic event sells out every year, so get your tickets today!
