HPSC - Weekly HIV & STIs Report - Week 35, 2016
Latest data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre show a total of 10 new cases for week 35 - 2016, bringing the total to 363 HIV new notifications for 2016 to date.

According to data published by the US CDC, men who have sex with men represent 83 percent of new HIV cases with 92 percent of new diagnoses among men between the ages of 13 and 24.

Gay and Bi Men With More Partners Are More Likely to Use HIV Risk Reduction Methods

MSM who have more sexual partners are more likely to use a variety of sexual risk reduction practices. Having more sexual partners increases the risk of transmission of HIV, but engaging in other risk reduction strategies, even those outside of the use of condoms, may otherwise reduce overall risk.
