ANSWER: Ex nihilo = 'out of nothing' That's right, God created everything we know and see in the universe 'out of nothing.'
Creation: Let There Be Light
Lots of fresh starts happening all around us! School starting for many of all age levels and our fall ministry kick-off is this Sunday September 11th! What does that mean? It means: Come and Join the Party! Beginning this Sunday, we will start a new message series Biblical Worldview 101 for 5 weeks. A worldview is a lens through which we few and interpret our life in this world. Everyone has a worldview: What is yours? Beginning Sunday we will explore the Biblical Worldview for 5 weeks together. For Sunday, read Genesis 1 and ask these questions: What did I notice? What does Genesis 1 tell us about the creation of all things and what doesn't it tell us? What does it mean for me? What is my response?
Post worship service FEAST: we will have chicken (fried and baked) and drinks provided for a feast afte our worship time together Sunday. Please bring a dish to pass/share: either a salad, dessert, or side dish (veggie or potato, etc.).
We plan to commission our new elder and deacons, as well as communicate to you our elder/deacon groups.
See you Sunday!

Surprise Birthday Card Shower!
Good morning – I’m Arlene – a sister of Ann’s – her 75th birthday is coming up in November – we would like to have a SURPRISE card shower for her birthday . Our youngest sister lives in Colorado & they would like to come for this occasion but are coming out in October – not wanting to deal with possible weather in November. So we will be celebrating her birthday early - it would be great to have the cards to give her by then.
We were wondering if it would be possible to put a notice on your church bulletin about this occasion – reminding them it is a surprise – to send the cards by October first – & send them to me

The Community / Bridge team is one of the four ministry teams being formed under the Healthy Church initiative. This team is responsible for social activities of the church, such as our BBQs, Bridge events, etc. This team is also responsible for Service projects, such as BOHO. For Crestview to be healthy, we need to nourish our existing members while always reaching out towards others, offering God's grace and love. If interested, please contact Muffie VanAndel, (303) 444-7036 or margaret.vanandel@gmail.com.
Tangled on Tanglewood: Knit and crochet group
The purpose of this group is to create community around something we enjoy while learning to authentically live out our faith. If this sounds good to you but don't know how to knit or crochet, that's okay. I love to teach and have taught knitting and crochet for BVSD LifeLong Learning. Anyone over 14 welcome. For more info please text Eileen at 720 244-6024 or email me at eileenevergreen@gmail.com
Community Garden Plans at Crestview
Over the last few months a garden committee, (Mark, Deone, Jess, Eleanor and Eileen) have been looking into the possibility of a community garden on Crestview's large plot of land. We are still in the planning stages and would welcome feedback, comments and anyone interested in becoming more involved - either in the planning process, or tending a plot next year.
Please keep this project in your prayers - that we can build not just garden plots, but lasting relationships and community as well. And that there may be many opportunities to extend God's love and grace to our corner of Boulder.
One Hour of Your Time
The Tuesday, Aug. 30 work-hour in the Sanctuary had to be moved to this coming Tuesday, Sept. 6, 10-11am. If you are able to come by and lend a hand to take down the decorations that would be wonderful!
Then on Saturday, Sept. 10, 9-10am, new decorations will need to be put up--just in time for Fall Kickoff Sunday! If you are able to help for just the one hour on either or both of these days, please let Syd know at worship@crestviewchurch.org Many thanks!

Jess & Danny to do Light the Night Walk
Our very own Danny Painter and Jessica Jenks are participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk in Denver on September 29, 2016. The walk is to raise money for blood cancer patient treatments. One of their really good friends, Zoe, had leukemia and is in remission but still needs to take a pill every day for the rest of her life. (Zoe also works for the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Denver.) If you are interested in sponsoring Jess and/or Dan for this very good cause that would be “awesome.” Just click on their fund raising pages below:
