Oakland's Infrastructure Bond KK Kicks Off 9.8.2016
Paired with affordable housing, this bond measure, called "KK", asks voter to approve a $600M bond to shape up Oakland's streets, municipal buildings and parks and recreation and library resources. $350M will be dedicated to street infrastructure with oversight by a residents committee.
 The first kick-off event is Thursday September 8, hosted by Mitch Kapor and Freada Kapor Klein at the new Kapor Center for Social Impact

Pre-Rally Reception – 5:00-6:00 p.m. ($500 – 1 guest, $2,000 – 5 guests)
Rally – 6:00-7:30 p.m. General Admission (Suggested Donation $40)

SATURDAY! September 10th, (Note the change in start time: 8:00am)
We're going hiking through Redwood Regional Park with the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council. This is NOT a flat walk, but a goodly hoof through our neighborhood redwood forest and dirt trails of about 7.5 miles. You must register here for this event.
Meet up: Skyline Gate, (8500 Skyline Blvd, Oakland) Redwood Park. As always, wear good walking shoes, bring a hat and sunscreen as needed, and bring drinking water.

SUNDAY! September 11th, we will party on the Pride Parade route with Bike East Bay as Contingent Number 9. Starting at 9:45, we'll gather at Clay and 14th with bike decorations galore so you can make your bike SPARKLE! We roll at 10:30am landing at the entrance of Oakland Pride 2016 festival around noon.
Please do register online so we prepare enough sparkly streamers to go around.

PARK(ing) Day - Friday 9.16.2016
It's an international celebration of re-imagining public spaces, one parking spot at a time.
 And WOBO is all over it, as are the various PARK(ing) Day parklets hosts on Friday, September 16.
1. WOBO will be at Tay Ho Restaurant & Bar (12th and Webster) from 8am to 6pm. We'll have a pop quiz and prizes for those who visit our parklet. Find out who else is hosting a pop-up parklet here. And don't forget that we have 7 permanent parklets that you ought to visit at any time.
2. Visit 5 or more parklets and tag WOBO (instagram/twitter @walkoakbikeoak using #PARKINGDAY2016) in your photos, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win a WOBO t-shirt!

Women Bike Happy Hour. Next up: Thursday September 22nd @ Temescal Brewing
We set out to have a fun happy hour for ladies who bike, but we've started a thing. Thanks to Lucky Duck Cafe for hosting our August Happy Hour.
Pencil us in, usually the 4th Thursday of the month. This month, we will host our Women Bike Happy Hour at Temescal Brewing (4115 Telegraph Ave ), from 5:30 to 7:30. Not only do these folks make incredible beer, they host a variety of food trucks in their beer garden and is right near Temescal's brand spankin' new Off The Grid program.

Save the Date - Thursday October 27 Oaktown Ghosttown Costume Party and Fundraiser
It's our annual (close enough to the) end of year affair to raise funds to support WOBO's work through the next year(s). This year, we're upping the fun factor.

Werewolves, vampires, Pokemon, whatever goosebump-raising costume you come in, you will be entered into the costume contest portion of the night.
Starting at $30, it'll be a ghoulish evening of light dinner, music, auction and fun activities. Cash bar available for the parched. Free entry for kids 12 and under, and for volunteers. Email Lola[at]wobo[dot]org to take on a shift.
