The Market is home to a diverse range of cultures and cuisines, with over 42 nationalities showcased through Market produce. This month we’re celebrating Asian Flavours and discovering the amazing array of Asian inspired goods from the Market including the signature Sarawak Laksa from Asian Gourmet, green pancakes from Sunmi’s Sushi and speciality fruit and veg. Stay tuned for our FREE Asian inspired cooking demos featuring Cheong Liew, Poh from Jamface, Eddie Ye from Yakitori Takumi and Terry Intarakhamhaeng from Sukhumvit Soi 38.

Creating Vietnamese street food using local produce discover their delicious menu featuring Banh Mi, tasty skewers, Hanoi spring rolls, viet mini pancakes, vegan dumpling soup, viet ice coffee and more.

Visit the team from ‘Insta Streat’ on Market days until September 17 at the Producer in Residence stall located on the North Western Roadway (across from Carousel Nut Bar, Stall 76).

The Market is full of activity with weekly cooking demonstrations, showcasing delicious recipes to taste and try at home! Join us for the following upcoming events:

Thursday 15 September 2016 at 11.00am
The Food Studio will present delicious mushroom Asian inspired dishes on behalf of the Australian Mushroom Growers.  Pam Tobin will be hosting the demo together with chef Judyta Slupnicki from the Wined Bar at the National Wine Centre.  The recipes will also include pork from local producer, SchuAm Pork available from Feast! Fine Foods.

Experience the vibrant culinary delights of the Indonesian archipelago at this cooking demonstration! Presented by Indofest-Adelaide, one of Australia’s largest volunteer-run community festivals, this demonstration will whet your appetite for this year’s Indofest-Adelaide Culinary and Cultural festival, that will be held on Sunday, 25 September from 11am to 4pm in the North Terrace Cultural Precinct.

Japanese chef Eddie Ye’s 20 year hospitality career is impressive – he has worked at the Shangri La Resort and Hyatt Hotels and Adelaide Restaurants Kenji, Genki group and Gaucho’s.  Now owner and head chef at Melbourne Street Restaurant Yakitori Takumi, Eddie shops at the Central Market everyday to purchase his produce fresh.  And that’s everyday! He hasn’t missed a day shopping at the Market in nine years the restaurant has been open!

Thai Street food sensation Sukhumvit Soi.38 opened in October 2014 and was named after the famous street food address in Bangkok. The menu changes regularly and uses local, seasonal and ethically sourced ingredients.Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn some authentic Thai techniques from talented Chef Terry Intarkhamhaeng.
