Waverley Hockey Club - Junior Unit

The 2016 winter season is a wrap! Congratulations to all our juniors and a big thank you to the coaches, parents and volunteers who supported the junior unit throughout the season.

In this newsletter we have details of summer hockey options for juniors and parents alike! We also have some early information for the 2017 season!

KEY DATES

2016 Summer Hockey

Indoor registrations CLOSE - Friday16 September
Indoor competition starts - 1 October (10 rounds)
U13 Indoor Championship weekend - Weekend 15th - 16th October
U15 Indoor Championship weekend - Weekend 22nd - 23rd October
U18 Indoor Championship weekend - Weekend 8th - 9th October
Summer Stix - November & December

2017 Pre season

Pre season Academy - late January & February
Registration day - Saturday 4 February
Training starts for Shield players – Week 6 February
Shield team trials – Weeks 27 February & 6 March
Training starts for Pennant & District – Week 13 March

SUMMER HOCKEY - INDOOR

Indoor - a 5 or 6 a side competition with a goal keeper and field players
Played on an indoor surface with wooden boards down each side of the court
October through December (10 rounds including finals)
Suitable for experienced players 10 years and older

SUMMER HOCKEY - SUMMER STIX

Summer Stix - a small field, 5 or 6 a side competition (no goal keepers)
Played outdoors, November & December (6 weeks)
Suitable for new players and experienced players U8 through to U14

SENIOR UNIT

Are you 14 years or older?

All older junior players are encouraged to consider playing seniors as well as juniors. Pre season kicks off for Seniors in late November and breaks for Christmas then resumes in January. Over summer it is mainly fitness (good for all of us!!).

Dates: Nov-Feb on Wednesdays, 10 x rounds + GF
Cost: $80 in full (prior to start) or $10/game casual fee
Time: 3 games/night starting at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm

Metro Men & Women’s teams are looking for more players

Never played hockey before? Or maybe it has been a while? Then Metro level (or Vets – see below) is a great place to start…We have a great mix of older players (some brand new each year!) and young players coming up the ranks.
