Earth911 has been tops on my green living list for years and they continue to expand and improve their outreach. If you haven't used their Recycling Search, keep it in mind for your Fall Cleaning (see below). The largest directory in North America, just enter your item and zip code and up pops a list of who in your area will recycle it. The list includes details like hours, restrictions and even pick up service and mail in options. Use it for everything from motor oil and batteries to appliances and toys. Speaking of toys, there's even a category search for recycling "adult" toys. Whatever floats your boat, folks - let's just do our best to keep it out of the landfill. Click here to access the Recycling Center Search.

Start Here:
Americans throw out 180,000 tons of disposable and rechargeable batteries every year. Don’t throw those batteries in the trash. Like computer parts, batteries contain heavy metals such as lead and mercury. When the batteries go to landfills, these metals end up poisoning the environment and are not available for recovery and reuse.

Meet my friend, Corine WIlson. We met at a Psychometry class 30 yrs ago. An unlikely salt 'n pepper duo, we bonded over a love of learning, laughter and metaphysics. From the celery fields of Florida to the streets of New York to the pyramids of Egypt, Corine has lived life boldly and to the brim. This summer, we launched a lecture series, I Am Somebody -Still, where she shares the wows and woes from childhood to today. It has been an honor to help her create this vehicle designed to create a village as in the tradition of the wisdom keepers. Admission is free and all ages, faiths and ethnic groups are welcome to attend. Corine believes everyone can take away something of value - indeed they do. And the audience is always blown away by the sheer energy of this 5' 2" dynamo who at 86 is as feisty and fun as ever. Read more about Corine and her inspiring story.

Fall Cleaning

We all know the custom of "Spring cleaning" but Fall is really the natural time to clear out and clean up. Autumn honors the season of release. Like trees shedding their leaves, this cycle of life reminds us that we need to let go in order to allow for new growth. Fall ushers in Water energy - perfect for washing away unwanted stuff on all levels of being. Put your Autumn card on display to increase your clearing strength. Don't have a Wisdom Card deck yet? Order from my Etsy store today and get FREE shipping. Happy 1st Day of Autumn!

Sorting Stuff

Use post-it notes or painters tape to mark items as you sort. It saves time and questions and helps keep you organized during a clearing or move. And if you are helping someone else, this is a great visual reminder for them of what is going where. If desired, assign a different color for each destination. Tip: If this is a longer project, post-it notes can come loose so secure with a piece of tape.

Living Large in
Tiny Town

It's been 3 mos now. Life in this town of 900 continues to be filled with wonder, warmth and beauty. I invite you to explore with me via my photo journal. New pics weekly. Tip: Subscribe to the blog by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and hitting the blue Follow button. Loving it in La Conner.

My favorite time of year! And for good reason. Crisp air, dappled sunlight, golden leaves, pumpkins ... a feast for the senses. All accented with a healthy dose of letting go.

Have a brilliant Autumn!                           Jane
