MiMS Crew!
Cycle 2 has officially come to an end at Team Higher Ground, which means we have only one cycle left in the 2016 season! As we gear up for the start of Cycle 3, Team YouthLink has two weeks of fun left in their very first cycle with Mile in My Shoes. Check out the latest at both of our teams:

  • Team Higher Ground participated in the Como Park Relays on Wednesday, August 31st. Teams of two & three completed an 8-mile cross-country course, and all of the teams had strong finishes! This was the third year for MiMS at the Como Park Relays - the anniversary of our very first MiMS race back in 2014. Check out the event photos here. • Three Higher Ground Resident Members became Alumni on Thursday at the end-of-cycle celebration. Congrats to Michael W, Sir & Gedeon on completing their first cycle with Mile in My Shoes!
  • Team YouthLink has two weeks left in their first cycle, and has seen incredible attendance since Mile in My Shoes & YouthLink introduced a collaborative rent stipend program last month. YouthLink resident members who attend 75% of the runs receive a stipend that goes directly towards their rent payment at the end of the cycle. It's a win-win! The next two weeks will include a group 5K run & an all-comers mile race.

City of Lakes Half Marathon
Three of our Resident Mentors will be running the MDRA City of Lakes Half-Marathon this Sunday in preparation for the TC Marathon! If you're out there, please look out for Jeff P, Dave B & Peter & cheer them on as they achieve this milestone.

Cycle 3 at Higher Ground
Thursday, September 22nd: First Mile Run!
Have you been part of Mile in My Shoes in the past, but haven't been able to participate in awhile? Now's your chance to make a comeback! If you're interested in a Cycle 3 Run Mentor position at either Higher Ground or YouthLink, please complete this form by Friday, September 9th.

Race for MiMS!
Feeling FOMO after watching the Torchlight FundRacers rack up donations - and feel-goods - this past month? Did you “win” the 10-Mile lottery, or "accidentally" register for a marathon, and now need some motivation to train? Or simply need a good excuse to run dressed like a hotdog or a dolphin? Whatever the distance, whatever your goal, there’s a way to increase its significance: fundraise for Mile in My Shoes!  We'll help you set up a page, spread your message, and we'll even give you prizes (MiMS hoodies!) as you hit your donation goals. Visit our FundRacing page to find out more & sign up!

Support MiMS without running a step
We're always looking for volunteers to help out with behind-the-scenes projects. Email Mishka with ideas or to find out how we could use your help.

The Guthrie Theater Presents Home Street Home: Minneapolis
zAmya Theater Project of St. Stephen’s Human Services partnered with the Downtown 2025 Committee to End Street Homelessness to interview people who live, work, play and pray downtown about how homelessness affects their lives. The result? Home Street Home: Minneapolis.

Home Street Home: Minneapolis follows street musician Zeke Cooper on a tour around the heart of the city where he’ll eavesdrop on skyway security guards and hear from residents in family shelters, condo dwellers, downtown church-goers, Vikings fans and panhandlers. Listen in as characters share experiences and change each other’s lives. Presented in zAmya’s signature style blending original music, comedy and…the truth! Playing September 16th-September 25th at the Guthrie Theater. Tickets & more info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/807208826088549/
