Pure religion is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction...  James 1.27

The Greatest Story

Our friends from Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC did a great job organizing activities and lessons for a vacation Bible school program at Agua Viva. “The Greatest Story” was the theme, starting with Creation and culminating with a summary of the life of Jesus and a gospel presentation. We started out with around 100 children, but that number quickly grew to over 160 by the end of the week. Everyone had a great time with plenty of music, crafts and games.

Many seeds were planted and we know the Lord will continue to work. His word does not return void!

Finishing Strong

Luisa and Carlos have been working
diligently to finish strong as they prep for
their high school graduations. All graduat-ing students are required to present a
community service project in rural comm-unities and our two seniors have been hard at work. It took a lot of planning and a few sleepless nights, but they were both so appreciative of their experiences and the friendships they gained along the way.

Luisa is doing general studies with a focus on tourism. Her community service project focused on helping a rural school with their gardening program, giving hygiene talks to local students, and providing tooth paste, soap and other personal care items to the children. Carlos is studying computers and graphic design. His group worked together to help clean the streets in a rural community and made presentations to the town about family and community growth. They provided food bags for some of the poorer families.

Please pray for both Carlos and Luis as they finish their internships, prepare for graduation, and get ready to look for work, taking the next steps in their adult lives!

New Smiles

We are always blessed to have new additions to Agua Viva. This past month we received two new siblings, Wilian (8) and Emily (5) to the home. Please pray for them as they adjust to living here at Agua Viva--that their basics needs would be met and that God would open their hearts to the gospel!

I Did Not Know

Submitted by Maddie Agne
SouthWoods Christian Church, Overland Park, KS

I did not know that besides making great friends, I would fall in love with Aqua Viva and the children who live there. I did not know boarding the airplane that my heart would be broken by the children’s stories only to have it healed by the hugs or the smiles on their faces. I did not know walking in that not only would I get to witness a worship service in a totally different language, but I would get to see children from age 1-17 worship together under the same roof.

When the children sing "We call it Agua Viva, our home in Guatemala" they truly mean it is a home, not just for those living there, but for each and every mission team that goes down there, because you leave that campus with a piece of your heart missing.

Thank You Agua Viva Staff

We held an appreciation breakfast in honor of the Agua Viva staff who worked hard to serve our summer mission teams. Thank you all for your love and dedication to the work here at Agua Viva!

Thank You Summer Teams

We want to send out a special “thank you” to all the summer teams that have visited Agua Viva. From painting and shelling beans to moving dirt, digging ditches, laying tile and so much more you have blessed the children and staff by helping with maintenance projects and improving the property. May the Lord richly bless you for all you have done for Agua Viva!

We Need Your Help

Many of our supporters know that we have high year-end expenses at Agua Viva. This year is especially critical as our reserves are dangerously low. In fact, based on our current reserve level, we must find ways to significantly reduce expenses at Agua Viva for 2017. Donations from now through the end of the year will help determine the magnitude of the expense reductions. Would you consider a special gift to the Guatemala Children’s Mission?
