Engineering for All
Together, a retired engineer and the district science coordinator transformed education in Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
Studying engineering is a giant step toward college and a good career. It's also a powerful way of learning for all students: it's hands-on, full of opportunities to learn from failure, and develops a mindset that prizes creativity, problem-solving, communication--and making cool things.
A site visit to Mahtomedi, Minnesota produced two new National Blue Ribbon School videos. One features Mahtomedi High School, where all students take at least one engineering course. The other profiles how the district, inspired by the high school's success, made engineering part of the science curriculum at every grade.
