A Living Hope
Some people place all their hope in what they can see or touch. That kind of hope is often little more than wishful thinking rather than an anticipation of what we know will happen. When it comes to a spiritual foundation for our hope, it never resides in what we can know or experience. Our hope is firmly founded on what Christ brings, not on what we can conjure up. The ultimate hope is in what happens after we die. Our salvation then has to be rooted in Christ and His resurrection. When we place our hope in Him, we are trusting that He is able to keep it safe and untainted. This is why we must trust in the Lord. He is able to keep our salvation from fading away. Everything else is shifting sand, subject to the trials and difficulties of life, but when we have a living hope, kept by the Lord Himself, guaranteed by the shedding of His blood, we do not have to worry. This week we move full force into our new series, “Enduring Grace—Hope” as we look at 1 Peter as the backdrop of our study. Invite someone who needs a fresh dose of living hope and join us this Sunday.
