What's on our minds in Sep...

Disciplined people, thought, action

What does it take to go from good to great? What sets certain leaders apart from others? How do companies put themselves on the path to success?

This month, we explore the concept of discipline as the engine that can help your company accelerate and grow. Good discipline isn’t about enforcing specific behaviors or rules, but rather creating systems and processes that keeps the company motivated yet accountable for their actions. Learn more in our blog about how to cultivate a culture of discipline with your company.

October is National Arts Month

Last year, President Obama officially proclaimed October as National Arts & Humanities Month. To celebrate, Americans for the Arts is hosting a #ShowYourArt social media campaign and encouraging leaders around the country to host Creative Conversations and other art-related community events.

Doers and thinkers

FourSight

Do you have the FourSight?

Can you spark creativity through a structured framework? FourSight thinks you can. This global innovation consultancy helps teams and businesses understand how to harness different types of thinkers (clarifiers, ideators, developers, and implementers) in order to better solve problems and create new solutions. Learn more about their methods on their website, but first, take this self-assessment to discover what kind of “thinker" you are.
Pavlok

Shockingly good habits

Looking for a way to break your bad habits? You can now literally shock yourself out of it. Pavlok, a Fitbit-like wrist device, will deliver tiny electric zaps whenever you engage in a bad habit. Like the famous Pavlov’s bell experiment, this form of aversion therapy is supposed to shock you out of bad habits like overeating, smoking, and nail biting and into good habits like waking up early and exercising.

Adding it all up...

"Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out."
            —Stephen Covey

As we move into fall, now is the time to take those ideas and inspirations from summer and turn them into action, whether in your business or personal life. Make a plan and challenge yourself to stick to it, whether that’s taking the next step to growing your business or even just exercising every morning before work. Simply maintaining that discipline is ultimately what transforms you into a better leader overall.
