Winners of ESD Prize 2016 announced

UNESCO's Director-General has announced the three laureates of the 2016 UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD): They come from Cameroon, Japan and the United Kingdom. The Prize will be awarded in a ceremony in Paris in October.  More >>

The Centre for Community Regeneration and Development from Cameroon gets the award for its youth-led programme "Integrated ESD schemes in schools and communities" targeting youth, women and indigenous groups. More >>

ESD initiatives honoured at Germany's first national GAP congress

More than 500 ESD stakeholders from all over Germany met in July at the first national congress for the implementation of the GAP, to share innovative practice and ideas driving the ESD agenda forward. 65 local initiatives were recognized by the German Minister of Education and the President of the German Commission for UNESCO for their exemplary work on ESD. 1,000 Viet Nam schools enhance environmental threat responses
Through School Preparedness Plans based on ESD, more than 1,000 schools and local communities across Viet Nam have strengthened awareness, preparedness and resilience to combat environmental threats.
