Beverly Katz Named Master of Landscape Design
As a girl growing up in Texas, Beverly Katz wanted to be a ballerina. As an adult, she found her way into another artistic endeavor — landscape design. Katz first worked as a landscape architect’s assistant and then struck out on her own. In business for more than 25 years, clients have come to refer to Katz as a “landscape therapist” due to her way of transforming their outdoor spaces by exploring an owner’s interior life. “I study people through their interior first so I can capture what they like and need and let it flow to the outside,” she says.

A Cozy Courtyard
Here Exterior Designs creates a lush backdrop, adding pops of color when the agapanthus are in bloom. Each season our crew returns to plant white Impatiens, caladiums or other white seasonal plants. This project required careful planning around the large exposed oak tree roots as to not disturb the tree, which is certainly the focal point in this cozy courtyard.

Beverly Travels to China
Beverly travels to Chengdu City, Sichuan, China to visit brother architect Larry Samuelson, AIA. During her time abroad, Samuelson showed his sister around and introduced her to his latest modular home project. Chengdu is the capital of China’s southwestern Sichuan province and perhaps most commonly known for its cuisine, the spicy Sichuan peppercorn that flavors the region’s hot-pot dishes. Often permitting is overlooked by those less experienced or the process can be drawn out, causing your project to take longer than anticipated. With Exterior Designs, Beverly knows just who to contact when requesting permits. She thoroughly understands city codes and the permit approval process, which makes the procedure much easier for her clients. We will ensure all needed permits and paperwork are filed properly before beginning construction and will walk you through the process along the way.
