PM BUILD 473 TO BE RETIRED |
|
Pocket Manager (PM) Build 473 has been the Production build for some time. The problem with this build is that the .NET Framework on which it is based is old and no longer compatible with the current and future development of this product. Therefore we must plan for the retirement of Build 473.
This build will become unsupported after 5pm on Wednesday 26 October (in 6 weeks’ time).

BUILD 577 RELEASED |
|
Last night, Beta Build 577 was released. This build uses the new .NET Framework (4.6) and includes a number of bug fixes and small enhancements requested or reported to us recently. Having all Pocket RAMM users on the new .NET Framework will also allow us to plan the release of a major new Pocket enhancement, Inspections, in Q4 2016. We strongly recommend your users move onto Build 577 as soon as possible.

HOW TO MOVE TO BUILD 577 |
|
This can be done by the normal process of logging into Pocket Launcher and downloading the Beta build. If the user has the Build 473 installed, the upgrade will automatically install the updated .Net Files, if the user has the permission to update their Windows operating system. If the user does not have this permission, you or your IT Team may need to help with the installation process. |

SECOND SYNCHRONISATION SERVICE |
|
In the past, some of our previous Pocket Manager builds have resulted in forced upgrades for everyone (usually because there is a structural change affecting all RAMM databases).
Such releases are always done after considerable testing by us. However our current single synchronisation service does not allow us or you and your power users to test these builds in a live manner on a test or copy database.
To overcome this problem, we are currently developing a second synchronisation service to work alongside the current service. This will allow us to make available new builds to yourselves and/or your power users for testing in a live environment, while leaving the existing Production and Supported builds for use by everyone else.
Having a second sync service also helps to avoid the issue of forced upgrades for everyone where there is a structural change in databases.
This build will become unsupported after 5pm on Wednesday 26 October (in 6 weeks’ time).

DID YOU FULLY SYNCHRONISE |
|
Recently there were changes to the Hosting Service which gave Western Australians access to the new RAMM Login and other improvements. If you didn't fully synchronise Pocket Manager at that stage, none of the above will work. So you will need to follow the directions in the August newsletter here. |
