Summertime exercise

As we approach the busiest time of year, filled with Christmas parties and lazy summer days, it is hard to find the time to exercise. Often people loathe the thought of having to exercise in the heat and decide to avoid it all together.

The recommendation for physical activity in adults is at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise (E.g. 30 minutes, five days per week) OR 75 minutes of vigorous intensity exercise. How can you get it done?  Stacey Singleton shows you how.

Online booking now available for our services:

Summertime Quiz

Hopefully you will find yourself lazing by a pool or the ocean at some time over this summer.  Christie Gardener thought that an anatomy quiz might be fun.  How much do you know about how your body works?  A score of less than 3?  You need to read all of our blogs!!
Goodluck.

The joy of walking and why it's great for your health too

Busy is the new black, and for many of us it’s tricky to fit regular exercise into hectic schedules.
However – this is a good news story.  You don’t have to train for a marathon, sit on an exercise bike for hours or go to the gym 5 times a week to get fitter, healthier and happier.  Losing those extra kilos, preventing cardiovascular disease and reducing stress can simply be achieved by walking.  Read this
great article by Michiel van Straten, Senior Physiotherapist at The The Body Company in Penrith.  And go for a walk.

Fact or fiction - how much do you know?

There are so many health tips out there, it is tricky to sort fact from fiction.  And, everyone is an expert.   Tom Hamilton has done the hard work for you - test your knowledge now.

ManPlan

Did you know 22,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in Australia annually?  Sadly, 3,000 men die of this disease every year, with more men dying of Prostate cancer than women dying of breast cancer. Advances in diagnosis and treatment have lead to 5-year survival rates approaching 100%. This means men with prostate cancer are living longer but with a degree of impaired quality of life due to side effects from treatments, including new diseases.
There is strong evidence that exercise can be used as management, during and after treatment, to minimise the harmful effects of treatment and improve health and well being.   Read more about that
here.

Stacey Singleton, our talented EP is running the ManPlan program.  If you are living with Prostate Cancer, call us now to book your spot.  Feel fit and spend time with men like you.
