Review of the Guardianship Act 1987
The NSW Law Reform Commission is currently undertaking a review of the Guardianship Act.This review will be conducted through the release of a series of question papers which ask for answers to questions based on different areas of the act.

The Mid North Coast Community Legal Centre (MNCCLC) is looking to put together a submission to the first question paper, ‘Conditions for alternative decision-making arrangements’. MNCCLC believe that many of the clients which you work with may have valuable contributions to make to this inquiry; particularly those who have been subject to a guardianship act or are likely to be subject to one in the near future. Get Involved with Preventing Homelessness
The NSW Government is calling on everyone with an interest in preventing homelessness to have their say on a new discussion paper 'Foundations for Change – Homelessness in NSW'.
This year the NSW Government is spending $188 million on specialist homelessness services that will respond to around 58,000 people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

After such a successful event last year we are planning a second Zombie Walk to promote Mental Health Month and the importance of positive mental health, wellbeing and awareness. Breakdown The Stigma
7 October | 2:00pm - 10:00pm | Coffs City Centre
This fantastic event will be held as part of Mental Heath Month. It is a youth driven and organised event in partnership with Headspace Coffs Harbour. It aims to raise awareness about youth mental health issues and where young people can get support through local services. 1 in 4 young Australians will experience mental health issues and most of them will not seek help.
Breakdown The Stigma will be a free, all ages and no alcohol/drugs event.

KidsQuit Smoking Cessation Brief Intervention E-learning
The objectives of KidsQuit are to increase knowledge of the 5A’s of smoking cessation, boost confidence in performing brief interventions and provide resources and support to professionals. The training is suited for not only health professionals, but any professional who comes into contact with adolescents or parents and carers who smoke. This free online interactive program takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is backed by evidence-based research.

Kempsey Library Activities for the Kids
For the upcoming school holidays library staff are offering two activities;
Wildlife Information session, Thursday 29 September from 11:00-11:30am. This will give kids aged 5-10 years an opportunity to meet our local FAWNA expert and learn about wildlife rescue. Younger children may attend if accompanied by an adult. Bookings are essential as places are limited, so please contact the Library on 6566 3210 to secure your spot.
Teddy Bears Picnic, Friday 7 October from 1:30pm-3:00pm. Bring your teddy bear or favourite soft toy and join us for stories, songs and games. No need to book, just turn up for this one.
