Iron Man Chmpionship
Do you have what it takes to be an Iron Man or Woman? Or just want the bragging rights? Put your skills to the test with our 2-person scramble event on Saturday, October 1st. Tees will be ALL the way back, with some never-seen-before locations, combined with mind-boggling pin placements to help transform Fairwinds into a test of Island golf that will be second to none! The event is open to men, ladies and mixed teams (ladies will be off the white tees). There will be tons of prizes including $3500 in retail prizes (based on 100 players), team prizes and on-course KP's and LD's. The entry fee is $89 per person or $59 for members, and includes golf, power cart, range token, a prime rib dinner and prizes. Island Golf Hop for ALS
On Wednesday, September 21st, our own Brett Standerwick is taking on his annual golf challenge for ALS. In past years Brett has golfed up The Golden Hind, the tallest peak on Vancouver Island. Another year he teed off on every hole with a baseball bat and a Lou Gehrig jersey, playing 184 holes in a day to match Gehrig's single season RBI record. This year, he will be taking the ALS message to the sea and the Gulf Islands. Beginning at dawn, he will play 18 holes at Fairwinds, hop in his kayak and then paddle to Gabriola, Salt Spring and finally Pender Island where he will play 18 holes at each island's course along the way.
