Promoting Oral Health During Pregnancy: Update on Activities—September 2016
The update provides information about programs and policy related to oral health during pregnancy, including information about new projects supported by the Perinatal and Infant Oral Health Quality Improvement (PIOHQI) national initiative funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration. Descriptions of projects funded as part of the PIOHQI expansion grant program (2016–2019) in Arizona, Massachusetts, Minnesota, South Carolina, and Texas are included. The update also provides summaries of news items, including articles about the number of pregnant women who are getting oral health care across the country, the importance of dental checkups during pregnancy, and strategies for improving oral health for infants and pregnant women in Wisconsin. In addition, the update offers descriptions of high-quality resources.
