Nurses demand answers to workplace violence proposals

(Minneapolis) - September 15, 2016 - MNA nurses carrying signs saying "Assaulted" will share their stories of being assaulted at work and detail how Allina is creating an unsafe workplace at a 2 p.m. news conference in Minneapolis today.

Allina nurses will detail how Allina has not responded to their contract proposals to improve workplace safety, in spite of many public reports of assaults at hospitals, including one at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood on November 2, 2014.

What: MNA nurses news conference

When: 2 p.m., Thursday, September 15
 
Who: Angela Becchetti, Registered Nurse, Abbott Northwestern Hospital,
          member of the nurses' negotiating team
          Nurses from Unity, Mercy, United, Phillips Eye Institute and Abbott Northwestern               will share stories of being assaulted at work

Nurses are engaging in an Unfair Labor Practice Strike that began at 7 a.m. Monday, September 5. Negotiations broke down Saturday, September 3, after a 22-hour marathon session when Allina negotiators left the bargaining table.
